*Update Aug 2018* I returned here after my great first experience with my mother and sister and the service and quality of food did not live up to the same expectations and experience I had the first time. I did not receive my drinks that I ordered and had to request them, the food took far too long to arrive almost 20 minutes for 2 simple burgers and a chopped steak dish. My mother found a chicken feather in burger, the toilets and wash area have no door separating it from the rest of the restaurant which is incredibly odd and there was a strong chlorine smell around if you say on the otherside of the wall. The staff don't seem too friendly. It also didn't rate too highly with Scores on the Doors, receiving a 1 for hygeine. Hmmm. - Original Review - Brilliant food, incredibly tasty and great portion sizes. Pricing is above average, some items a bit unreasonable like the Nachos which are basically Chili Heatwave Doritos with a bit of cheese for £4. Drinks are pricey too.
Went recently and despite the extremely long wait time it was excellent. The food was particularly well cooked and to a high standard as well as being a very big portion. The prices were also very cheap and the customer service was great as the staff was friendly and quick to respond to queries
Had been excited to try this place since I move to the area in December but was a little disappointed overall. Was not greeted on entry, unclear whether we had to wait to be seated so made our way to a table. The menu had a range of burgers and seemed to be good value for money. Placed ordered and didn't wait too long for food. My partner received the wrong order got a ranch burger instead of the original he ordered which had been served to someone else. My own burger the new yorker seemed under cook and just fell apart. There was flavour to what I was eating which was pleasant. Not sure I would recommend to anyone else in all honesty.
Heard a lot of good reviews about this place so decided to go down with a few friends from work. When we walked inside i was shocked from the interior of Hometown Diner it looked fantastic, the staff was dressed quite smart and the menu was nice. We ordered a few starters, and all of us got main dishes and i must say the taste of the food was really nice, it arrived on time and was piping hot just as what we expected. I would certainly be going there again.
Given that we were the oldest party by about 30 years and the only Europeans, this was a pleasant visit. Food was adequate : barely. Burger was not great and the chips were completely bland. The fish burger was abysmal. The young folks appeared to enjoy their meals though. Maybe that reflects more on my expectations than the food offer???? I liked the music.
Heard quite a few negative things about here but I was happy I decided to try it for my self. The breaded chicken burger was absolutely AMAZING so juicy and thick. Came back withing a few days for another and will be bringing several friends to try it out as there aren't many places that do a good southern chicken fillet burger any more.
Been twice and food was great along with the service
The food in this place is really nice. It's very different and I find the portions filling. We had the chicken steak. Mine was nicely grilled with the mash and cooked veg both delicious. The platter looking plates they use are a nice touch. The staff are friendly and generally welcoming and both greet you and thank you for your custom. I would have given 5 stars however the only things that took that away was the: 1 inconsistency between my chicken steak and the other two. We ordered three of the same meal and they were all slightly different. One had almost no sauce to the chicken and was quite dry, mine was right in the middle and the third had way too much sauce, the chicken could almost swim on the platter, and; 2 the toilets - they say judge an eatery by the state of it's toilets. Well if you are going to do that you wouldn't eat here. Everything else is spot on but the toilets in this place are filthy and the Diner was not even that busy. Had I seen the toilets I may have been put off and not put my order in. The diner did get busier as we were eating and I noticed it was quite busy with families. The layout is quite nice and spacious and well designed. I quite like the design and setup. If you are in and around Batley it's definitely one to try. Like I said if not for the two points above it would be 5 stars and these can be easily rectified by the management.
Ordered two burgers. 10 minutes later, I rang up to cancel one of the burgers. At first, they refused. When I got there, much to my delight, they had cancelled it and taken care of it for me. Brought the one burger home and my sister loved it after eating it for the first time. Overall - great customer service from the fellow who served me. Thank You
The Diner was well are out and the tables were clean. The £6.95 lunchtime menu was fantastic value and the good was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, greeting us with a smile. I will definitely be going again and would highly recommend this place to family and friends.
