About

Belfast City Centre Deli & Restaurant

Story

Home was founded during the Autumn of 2011 in a back street location in Belfast City Centre initially as a three month pop-up venture. Its aim and ethos was to serve homely, feel good nourishing food. The restaurant partnered with local artists and social enterprises to give a new home to previously loved furniture.
The initial pop-up venture was an instant hit with foodies so much so that the pop-up extended its tenure for a further four months, before taking up a permanent home in its current location of Wellington Place, Belfast close to the magnificent City Hall.
The interior exudes a lofty New York style warehouse with a glass-fronted façade to watch the world go by and like its predecessor has many previously loved and upcycled interior items available for purchase alongside works of art by local artists.
Home’s ethos remains true to its origin serving feel good food with menus created by Home co-founder and award winning chef Andy Rea with daily proceedings looked after by manager Stevie Haller and head chef Ben Arnold.
Home is open for morning coffee and pastries from 10am daily where you can pull up a stool and watch the hubbub of the city go by or have a relaxed meeting. From 11am the deli area kicks into full swing where freshly prepared soups, salads, sandwiches and home baked treats are available to consume in the deli area or for takeaway. At noon the restaurant opens with a full menu with waiter service. Home is fully licensed and has an extensive and affordable wine and drinks list.
Reservations are accepted for evening reservations on 02890 234946.

I had high hopes for this restaurant and its gluten free menu. This was my last meal in Belfast before moving on. The staff was unfriendly to the point of rude. I entered an almost empty restaurant and was asked if I had a reservation. When I said no, the young woman acted as though I had committed a mortal sin and was asked to wait. I understand that lunch on a Sunday can be busy, but there was only 1 table occupied and when I left almost an hour later the restaurant was less than half full. My server was rude. When I tried to ask questions about how the food was prepared he made it very obvious that he just wanted me to order. Example: when I asked about how the hake was prepared he responded "it's fish" Oh duh. The hake was the most expensive dish on the menu. The portion was more like an appetizer. It was excellent and well prepared, but small. I left hungry and very disappointed. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free menus
Had such a fantastic gluten free lunch here. We didn't have a reservation but that was no problem. The staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about allergens. I have coeliac disease but their confidence and knowledge put me straight at ease with cross contamination worries - they do have a separate fryer for anyone else worried! Food was absolutely delicious, feel confident that this is one of those special places that whatever you order will be very tasty, and I'll be back soon to test that theory! Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten free options and cross-contamination knowledge
As a Michelin-recommended restaurant, it is excellent. The food is great and you can get enough to eat. The service attitude is great and the food is healthy. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu.
I really enjoyed dinner at Home. We both got the 3 course dinner and were very impressed. We were slightly disappointed when the appetizers we wanted to order were no longer available, but it happens - no big deal. Make sure to make a reservation!
Terrific food, made fresh. It's the first time in my life that I've had house made tortellini! The difference between theirs and everything else that I've had was night and day. Flavors were good, technique was perfect. We came because we noticed the Michelin sign as we were walking to a different restaurant. Home is a Bib Gourmand rated spot instead of starred, but that's ok with me as the prices are much, much better and the service good enough. They have a gluten free menu and lunch combination specials Wednesday through Friday.
The whole meal was way too good to be true. I totally understand why Home is a Michelin restaurant. The Thursday 3-course menu was genuinely incredible. I highly recommend the Seared Squid, the Braised Duck Ragu and the Chocolat Fondant. All the flavor combinations were harmonious and perfectly well-executed. Last but not least, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Well done!
Walked in with a couple of colleagues while staying in Belfast. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and the food was delicious. The amaretto and sour cherry cocktail was divine!! Great atmosphere.Food: 5/5
Great food & great atmosphere. Restaurant was quite busy but never too loud as to drown out your own conversations. Food was all beautifully presented and the main course was cooked to perfection. Dietary restrictions: I have a lactose intolerance and found there to be a great selection of meals.
First class food. Really enjoyed it. Great gluten free menu. Bottles of gluten free Peroni also. Would definitely visit again.
Loved the dining experience at home. Fantastic service and great food. Would 100% recommend!Food: 5/5
