So many lovely flowers! This church is really looked after - everything is beautifully preserved, clean, and cared for. The flower displays, bouquets, and pots were simply wonderful. They made my day. So thoughtful, and it made the church smell beautiful. Thank you
Lovely old church and ladies chapel where women could go for refuge and advice in private. As churches go this is up there. As with a lot of the places there needs for maintenance are high so please make a donation when entering. Say the price of a pint per person or more if you can.nAs I said the church is in two parts..nVisit both while there
Certainly worth visiting. Amazing stained glass windows and alot if history. Just a shame about the scaffolding but like so many historic churches it is in desperate need of funds for restoration. Well worth visiting.
One of the largest parish churches in the UK. A joy to visit.
The Holy Trinity Church Long Melford is a delightful place what a beautiful Church it kind of reminded me anyway of the one in Blythburgh .nThe Reredos was made in 1877 and is amazing made of Caen Stone and based on a painting of the Crucifixion by Albrecht Durer . There was also a great stained glass window depicting the Saints Felix , Alban and Erkanbald . Now being a major geek I could understand Felix and Alaban but Erkanbald kind of puzzled me being kind of sad I had heard of him . I know he was involved in the building of a Cathedral in Germany and I know that his remains have recently been found . But why does he appear in Long Melford ? Its a mystery to me and I am sure it shall remain so . I quite like to think that when I die someone might dedicated a window to me in Mainz but I doubt it .nThere are some very impressive tombs too most notably the one of Sir William Cordell .nVery Nice .nI think I may have solved my Erkanbald dilemma . It turns out there was an Erkanbald in Germany and an Erkenwald in England . Both were Bishops one of London and one of Mainz . All I can guess at is some kind of confusion between the two ? This may be wrong but is best I can arrive at .nIf perchance I receive some sort of Divine intervention and am told the true explanation I shall update you if I survive the shock .
