After finding out that Shakespeare was buried there and after walking the grounds the night before I decided to adventure into the church. It was an amazing church with friendly members of staff telling you where things were and what you can see. There were 5 graves one of course being Shakespeare’s, there was a chained bible and Shakespeare’s baptism and burial dates written on. To see this you did have to pay a small fee. The rest of the church was a functioning church which is always nice. If you are interested in Shakespeare, like his plays/ poems or just want to see it I would recommend visiting.
This is such a welcoming community. Every stranger took the time to speak to my children and myself. Even giving advice on ways we could enjoy our time in the church. The regularly scheduled midday music concerts are excellent! And the sandwiches were both reasonably priced and all were delicious. We tried 5 different sandwiches and each enjoyed them very much. We will look forward to coming back next time we are in the area.
Home of the grave to Shakespeare, this is a very visited church, that holds a lot of history around the most famous English writer. The place is very beautiful, and you can do nice walks to get to it, as it is located next to the river. The church has beautiful stained glass, that shines beautifully on a sunny day.
Interesting place to visit, beautiful church and can see Shakespeare's grave along with his birth and death records. There is a charge to access the grave though to note.
Amazing architecture with so much of history and devotion. Attended the evensong on Sunday at 5pm. Vicar Rev Patrick was so lovely to talk. Must visit
