We stayed at the Jockhedge Park and we went to this butcher during our stay. We used to go to a butcher in Tewkesbury that was fantastic. This butcher is better and the steaks are fantastic. Steaks need the fat to give them flavour so those who have give a bad review based on fat no nothing about steaks. We will be back even though we live 2 hours away. Great butcher great selection

Can’t help but think any bad reviews for this place are from either bitter or unlucky people. I’m far from local living around 80 miles from here and very fussy with meat. I’ve used this place for years every summer and have only had a bad steak once, not bad considering I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of pounds in there and there’s always an element of risk buying meat. Whatever is on the chopping block is always fantastic. Ask what they recommend on the day! There’s no need to buy anything better than rump or ribeye because the quality is so high it’s as tender as other butchers fillet steak and both cuts are way more tasty than fillet or sirloin anyway. I’ve seen them throwing top quality end cuts in their mince mix as they’ve left the best of a fantastic cut for the customer. Hands down the best butchers I’ve ever used and very reasonable prices. Edit...Just looked at the, I’d guess, husband and wife review below and can’t believe you. They’ve always shown me what I’m getting before I’ve paid and your pictures are utterly ridiculous compared to what they’ve sold me. I’ve seen them throw better than that in the bin!
Please note Holmes Butchers is now located at 8 Wildshed Lane, Burgh le Marsh. Another Butchers, known as 'Welbourne Butchers' has opened at Holmes Butcher's previous spot which is located in the market square of Burgh le Marsh. These butchers are in no way related and the name of the butchers has not changed. Holmes Butcher's is still running but in a new location, please disregard reviews stating Welbourne's, thanks.

Ignore the reviewers who clearly know nothing about meat and are obviously used to buying it from a supermarket. Yes the steaks have a good amount of fat, but that means well looked after animals and flavour. Plus the meat is well aged and beautifully tender. The Lincolnshire sausages are also excellent. Highly recommended.
We live in Peterborough and have been shopping at Holmes Butchers for the last 15 years - approx every 2 to 3 months whenever we are visiting relatives in the area. They have excellent choices for 'Freezer Deals' and their Lincolnshire Pork Sausages are very tasty and just cannot be beaten.
This butchers is the reason that I look forward to the summer season in Skegness. Amazing meat, melt in the mouth steaks to die for, the best lincs sausages and really good bulk buy deals. Service with a smile too, make sure you visit if you’re in the area
