My mother was sent here against our wishes from hospital on 24/11. I live with her & have been her carer for 2 years. I was not told when she was sent here until I rang hospital on 15/12. I rang holmes house & was told that she was absolutely fine I said no one had told me she was there so she had no clothing they said she had it was fine. 7am next morning they ring me tell me to be ready to come in as something had happened in the night. I went straight there but they wouldn't let me in they were waiting for a doctor paras were already there. I asked what was wrong they said phuemonia sent me home till doctor came. Soon as I got home they called come back doctor not attending. Saw my mum it was so distressing I can't put into words. She was just a skeleton unrecognisable. They then unplugged her air & wait for her to struggle her last breath. As far as I was aware at that time one day she was fine less than 24 hrs later she was dead. I cannot get my head round 1. I was not told she there. 2. Nobody told me she had covid. I had to contact the coroner to tell me she tested positive on 10/12. I blame the care home 100% for her death as I know as fact my mum would have been dressed in other people's clothing as this happens in all these prime life homes even when they plenty of their own. I don't believe she was fed. On past experience of other prime life home I know a lot of these old people are abused very very few of these care workers actually care. Hopefully the who rUn these places take note & contact me. I know fact if my mum had come home with me she would still be alive
The staff can't care less about the residents and the manager is useless! They let my father starve to death due to his Vascular Dementia condition. Dad was dehydrated and left to feed himself but couldn't speak or swallow towards the end; he died in hospital. Dad needed specialist one to one care and pureed food; neither of which he got. Our family complained so many times but nothing was done. I wouldn't let my cat be cared for by the staff there. Dad's tagged clothes went missing, stuff we bought Dad for Birthdays and Christmas disappeared, he was left unshaven and his oral hygiene was despicable.
Not a pleasant place to visit. I did not find that residents are treated with the dignity and respect they are owed or that policy says they should receive. I have witnessed residents left laying on the floor in the doorway of a bathroom with shelving pulled down on top of them, along with bottles of disinfectant that should have been locked away in a COSHH cupboard. This went on for at least 20 minutes before a member of staff responded, just as I was about to take photos for the attention of safeguarding regulators. I have a family member here who is regularly forced to change for bed in the early afternoon, finds that no-one responds for prolonged periods when she pushes her call bell and is left for hours at a time in soiled underwear because she's incontinent and unable to use the toilet unassisted. I strongly recommend you look elsewhere for care. A final minor point: the last time I visited there was loud electronic dance music playing in a common area and audible throughout a large portion of the building. Fine for me in my thirties but totally inappropriate for the residents, who are all of advanced years. Staff just don't show any evidence they care about the people they're charged with looking after.
My mam was neglected ending up in hospital we were told she would die cause of them doc never seen anything so bad in all his years
I Visited A While Ago - Someone Knew Through Our Family,The Care Staff Are Friendly, Supportive - There On Hand If You Anything - Nothing Too Much Trouble For Them.
