I just love this place & I never get fed up of the views. It can get very busy at the weekends so I prefer to go here during the week. Its a great place to visit any time of year. It has facilities for motorhomes, caravans & camper on the opposite side of the Lake . It also has a variety of restraunts cafe's & a hotel. It's flat around the Lake so could accommodate wheelchairs.
This is a lovely lake to walk around. It is a walk of 2.3 miles so not too challenging at all really- my three year old managed it no trouble at all. Thankfully, there is a public toilet at the start of the walk just in case. The water level was very low owing to the lack of rain recently. The car park is 2£ for four hours which I thought was reasonable. There is also a child’s park half way round. A stretch of approximately quarter of a mile does not have a path so you have to look out for cars
Absolutely loved it and so did my wife and border terrier. Gorgeous day and we did the walk around the lake. Lots of wildlife including a beautiful inquisitive robin that really loved the photo shoot. It actually came closer and closer, perfect.
Very pleasant place for walking if inclined or sitting & relaxing. Easy short train ride from Manchester to Smithy Bridge, bit further from Littleborough. Plenty of parking spots but may have to park away from lakeside itself. Easy road & track all the way around the lake. Kids play area also there. Lots of bird life to see with a hide next to reserve. Pavilion Cafe about half way around seems to have hot & cold snacks & icecreams. Couple of lakeside buildings look a bit untidy but still a pleasant walk. Ample well maintained seating all the way around. Quite busy even on acold February day & probably very busy during summer.
Lovely walk, nice and flat so good if you are just getting back into walking. It can be really busy both for parking and walking around. Plenty of restaurants and bars around.
Plenty of lovely walks in the area and to enjoy the local contryside. Gets very popular in summertime but there is plenty of parking. Not too far on foot from Littleborough and Smithy Bridge stations and there are local buses. Enjoy refreshments in local cafes, pubs and restaurants. New local visitors being built and will be open in near future.
Lovely place to walks,I love feeding birds, ducks and geese.
What a beautiful tranquil place, lots to do for a day out with friends and family. Just check out the specular pictures I took of the Sunset the other night will blow you away.
Nice little stop off for a walk around. Plenty of parking to be fair. Walked round and stopped at a cafe for a drink. Nice place to unwind
Built in 1800 as a water source for the Rochdale Canal but, since the mid 1800's, has been a tourist attraction. A "mini Blackpool" but far more classy with its own amusement arcade, fish and chip shop, along with a few nice cafe's and pubs. A pleasant and easy loop walk. Also has rowing and sailing clubs.
