Hollands Wood Campsite
"The ideal spot for you and your family to get lost in nature’s playground. With the natural features of the land still in place, pitches weave through the tree lines, amongst the ferns and into slightly more open land, giving plenty of camping options and places to explore. Here you really get the best of both worlds – a friendly campsite in lush forest with the benefit of onsite facilities and the lively village of Brockenhurst a short walk away."

I’m a complete rookie for tenting, I don’t have any comparisons or know what makes a good campsite, so this review is more suited to those like me. The toilets and showers are clean, I couldn’t really fault them. The staff were nice, polite and came across like they enjoy working there. The campsite is also clean, no litter, green and tidy. The rules are strict no fires after 9, coal/gas only - not that we could start a fire over the weekend, it rained every morning and evening but I understand this rules applies to the entire forest, not just the campsite, something out of their control, but worth noting if intending to stay here. Plenty of places to park your van or pitch a tent. On one side of the camp the forest really opens out, and you can see a lot of horses. Some even came to visit us. Location is great, you’re wedged inbetween Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst. Plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants to go to if you’d like. Lots of walks and cycle routes nearby also. I’d return back to the campsite, positive experience overall.
Beautiful campsite, very good location, close to Brockenhurst for the pubs and the train. The facilities were spotless. The staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend!Rooms: 5/5
What a superb little Jem of a campsite. Right in the heart of the new forest amongst the trees and away from civilisation. When we arrived checkin was so straight forward and the chap checking us in was super friendly and chatty. He told us about how the campsite was flooded and they had conned of areas. This wasn’t a problem and we was made to feel extremely welcome. It’s a great relaxed atmosphere with no set pitches. Clean and functional toilets/showers and a great washing up facility. Would highly recommend for anyone finding somewhere in the new forest!! Cannot recommend this enough!!
We booked to bring our caravan here for the weekend, for an experimental first off-grid trip. Although the site was busy we found a lovely spot facing the open forest and there was very little noise. It was quite a walk to the water point but that was our choice, we could have camped nearer! It's a fair trade-off considering we wanted a back-to-basics site. Will definitely come again. The photo I've attached was taken standing right alongside our caravan on Saturday morning!
This site is entirely different from any other sites we have been to. We stayed here when we visited the New Forest Show, it's just across the road! There aren't any pitches on this site, you just park in the forest. It's a fabulous experience. The facilities are very busy but adequate. It's a good base for exploring the forest, the tour buses and the local buses are a 10 minute walk away. A great place.
First night was terrible, it was so busy I could only get a pitch on the side close to the road it was a weekend during summer holiday though. Road noise went on all night, it was like camping on a motorway. Moved the tent to the other side of the site following morning. Could still hear the road but not as much, although there was lots of snoring from other tents . The surrounding woodland is absolutely stunning, and facilities were relatively clean. Probably wouldn't go again definitely not at this time of year maybe at a less busy time.
Hollands Wood campsite was excellent from signing in on arrival to being able to pick your own pitch. The staff were amazing , Peter Manning and all the staff at Hollands Wood went above and beyond to ensure our stay was relaxed and enjoyable. The scenery was beautiful and lovely to wake up to. Morning routine consisting of a coffee and watching the wildlife roam freely. There are shops within a 10-15 min walk from the site. The site is very clean with plenty of facilities, toilets , showers , laundry washing up area etc etc. Some very nice walking routes and cycle routes to keep everyone happy. I will definitely be staying at Hollands Wood site again.
Class site in a good location for exploring the new forest. Facilities were clean and showers were a decent temp. Some decent trails for cycling / walking on the site, obviously gets dark at night so bring a torch. Would’ve been five stars if it each pitch had a little more space to themselves and ban sausage dogs. Seen two instances of sausage dogs startling ponies. Nearby activities: Lots of new forest sites within a twenty minute drive
Beautiful forest location. No set pitches as such, just find an area you fancy. Was busy over August BH but we still had plenty of room. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a spot on the quieter, right hand side, which overlooks the common. Take this side if you can. Roadside is noisier, but not terrible. It’s a massive site from end to end, so if you like smaller, this might might not be for you. However, all facilities were great, plenty of toilets and showers, and were clean at all times. Ponies roam freely which is a lovely experience, just keep your food contained! It gets dark in these woods so bring good torches. Nearby activities: Loads to do nearby, easy 10-15min walk to Brockenhurst.
It's a lovely setting despite the proximity to the road. Facilities are good but this is not a place for groups. It feels a bit like it's run by the army yes that is too harsh but there are so many rules and we were told off 3 times. They need to lighten up and remember people are on holiday.Rooms: 4/5
