This is a fantastic building with interesting history. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We went on a quiet day and the staff loved to talk. Absolutely brilliant. Only downside, no photography inside the house. Fair enough as the family still live there. Tea room, facilities and you can buy souvenirsVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Went for festive afternoon tea, tour of house and coincided with market. The market was very poor with lots of extremely overpriced foods and little in the way of festive goods. The house was beautiful, the tour informative and the festive afternoon tea wonderful. The characters within the tour got better as we made our way to the main room. Special mention to Jack who served our afternoon tea. Their delightful manner made our day end on a special note.
I visited the monthly farmers market and really enjoyed the experience. The buildings are wonderful and it really provides a taste of how people lived in the 1600s . If you enjoy history and architecture I would highly recommend we even had the pleasure of a very brief chat with the current owner of the building who was obviously very proud of his family home. I would highly recommend we plan to return to the market again and also book one of the tours
My lovely Mum & I attended your Murder Mystery evening on Friday evening and what a fantastic night we had in such a beautiful building. The food was delicious, the staff were very attentive and the entertainment was great fun. To top it off, we shared a table with two lovely ladies who made our night even more fun. We hope you host another event like this in the future, as we'd definitely book again. Thank you for a memorable fun night xx
Had a great afternoon tea a week ago. Catered for all dietary requirements, really well presented food, beautiful historic building and surroundings are stunning. Staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back, one of the best afternoon teas we have had. Thank you.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Arrived for a ghost walk. Food was part of the tickets price. Excellent service and hot tasty food. Enjoyed the ghost walk. Informative guides who worked hard to develop the atmosphere. Unfortunately no ghostly action on this tour. I would recommend a visit.
Walked round the gardens while waiting for the start time for house tour including tunnels. Excellent guided tour with lots of info and somethings for children. Linda was a very good guide.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
We visited for a special historical graffiti tour. It was really interesting and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would say this is probably not for small children, as there are lots of stairs. Definitely get a cake from the tea room!
Besides visits over the years, recently attended two outstanding events/ tours. The first was: "Historic Graffiti and Superstitious Beliefs". Wow! The very best of events / tours led by STEVE. So enthused by his subject, sharing an amazing amount of knowledge that we were totally swept along and now look for the signs, and find them ourselves. This gentleman gave us insights into the subject and Hoghton Tower we were not aware of but are now super fans of the place and the subject! Steve, you are a star! Our second visit was for the vastly entertaining "Ghost Tour Walk". Another evening where we were entertained and fed scrumptious supper and thoroughly enjoyed every spooky and fun moment. Five star events which we thought were amazing - and at a beautiful spot in our glorious county of Lancashire.
Great place to visit but we were there for the Christmas Market. Plenty of local companies selling some very unique and local gifts. Normal market is every third Sunday and I would highly recommend a visit
