Fantastic to see a HMV again. Loads of real DVDs CDs and vinyl. Very helpful staff. We must help keep these places going. The musical experience is the touch and feel of the sleeves as much as the listening experience. We have now also picked up a cd album that was not originally in stock. No drama.

Definitely the most frustrating customer experience I’ve had in recent memory… Visited HMV Portsmouth on Friday 05/07/24 and ordered a t-shirt to be delivered to the store for my little brother, as his size wasn’t stocked. We paid and were told it ‘should’ arrive in store in store the coming Monday-Tuesday, but not to worry, because we’d receive a confirmation text to alert us when it had been delivered. Come Monday 08/07/24, we were in the area and popped into the store again to see if the shirt had been delivered. It hadn’t—fair enough. Following that, I’d call the store once a day with no success on getting through to anyone, let alone getting any update regarding the shirts delivery. The call queue would time out before I got to speak with anyone, after having sat through the abysmal keypad prompt menu. Finally, today, Friday 12/07/24, I pop in store—again to check if the shirt had been delivered, and it had been. We did not receive any confirmation of its delivery to the store… Good thing my brother went to try the shirt on for fit whilst we were still in store because it was also the wrong size… We had ordered a small and they had delivered a 2XL three days late with no notification that it had arrived. I tried expressing my annoyance about having called the store so many times to a member of staff and was told that the store phone was upstairs… Not at the counter, not somewhere on the sales floor. Upstairs. Why the flip would the store phone be in some backwash out of reach inaccessible back room, and not be in the store… We had just opted for the refund at that point. Having just gotten back I tried giving the Southampton HMV store a call, for a shot at seeing if they had the shirt—again with no luck, go figure, being timed out after sitting through the call menu and queue. To rub salt in the wound I find that the supplier is selling the shirt for cheaper; and somehow having the supplier ship the shirt to our home back in Australia would still be cheaper than the price HMV advertised. How disappointing and frustrating that there were so many failed checks by HMV pertaining to the order of the shirt at every step of the way.
Came here for an album signing, and I overheard the staff saying it was their first time hosting an signing event, but they did a great job looking after the customers and making sure it went smoothly. The shop itself is great too, with loads of cool stuff on sale.

Very well stocked music store, not seen so much vinyl in a shop for years. As well as the usual CDs and DVDs gadgets and collectibles are also available. Nice friendly staff, Mark was very helpful.
Great store that is large and has lots of variety on offer from cds, graphic novels, pop vinyls, anime merchandise and clothing etc. Always clean when we go in and well laid out so you can see everything clearly. Staff are extremely lovely and helpful too.
Typical HMV. Well laid out. Quite a big store. With everything from Records, players, cds, dvds, books etc. Staff helpful.
HMV shops used to be one of the "go to" destinations for CDs etc. The rise of the Internet has more or less killed such stores. This branch is no exception. Dirty, over-priced and staffed by people with zero cust-rel ability. Much of the stock looked old and worn. Not worth visiting.
Staff were very helpful and in my opinion probably one of the best HMV store I've been in will definitely vist again
