Hired a van for moving house, van was in poor condition and smelt like cat pee. We were driving the van to go and get fuel and the clutch went completely went to the floor this was at 8pm at night. We had to pull over in a carpark as could no longer change gear, thankfully we were not on a motorway, as that would have been terrifying. They give you a piece of paper that says if anything happens to call AA - I did so and learned that there is absolutely no cover under that van or the company. So good luck if you break down as you cannot get a hold of the company outside of work hours. Managed to get the van working again by manually moving the clutch up, with my foot. Was very janky and scary, but we managed to get the van back to the van place to give it back. Talked to the lady when I gave it back and she was not surprised when I told her about AA and the clutch, meaning this was apparently normal. I would not recommend this company as if anything happens I'm sure they would hold you liable, even though the vans they provide are clearly in poor condition.
Lady on phone was borderline rude and tried to bump the price to a larger van that needed, no mention of £500 excess untill I was there so imagine my surprise when a older, beaten up, rusty van appeared! When it got dark and I needed lights I quickly realised the vehicle was faulty, the LIGHTS were not working properly! Dash displaying fault broken bulb was highlighted but this was a much bigger electrical problem when I investigated!!!! They had to know this when hiring, not sure if the vehicle was actually legal but it was definitely not safe, I only picked it up at 1pm. They didn't seem to care when I returned vehicle. I have actually worked in this industry previously and would I hire from HJB again? Absolutely not!
