Story

Vince Hillis, the founder of Hillis Security Systems Ltd, has over 30 years experience in the security systems industry with a background of working for national companies. Vince is closely involved at all stages from survey and design to installation and servicing, apart from management. Vince started trading in 1996 and his company was incorporated in 2004. He and his team have invaluable experience of designing and providing security systems for a complete range of properties: from high risk installations such as diamond and gold merchants, bonded warehouses, antique shipping warehouses, shopping centre jewellers; to medium risk warehouses on trading estates, high street department stores, construction sites, high street shops, and all types of residential property, large and small.

Hillis Security Systems Ltd will be able to offer a solution to whatever the requirement is at a cost that is within your budget. We achieve this by offering options to provide various types of equipment that would be appropriate for the project. We will suggest what would be a good basic system to start with and then explain how it could be expanded making it very clear that everything is an option and the final decision on what the system consists of will be yours.

Hillis Security Systems Ltd has worked in partnership with many of the major building developers since its inception providing their site and sales offices with intruder alarms, CCTV and staff with panic buttons for police response. All of our engineering staff hold current CSCS cards and the company is committed to operating in a safe working environment for all.

The company is approved by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB) to design, install and maintain intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and door entry systems. Along with the SSAIB and UKAS 131 certification, we are approved by all insurance companies. We are approved by the Department of Trading Standards and Which? Trusted Traders schemes. All employees are vetted by the police to meet the requirements of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and they are security screened to BS 7858 and are Criminal Records Bureau checked.

Maintaining our high standards is essential; we achieve this by ensuring that all of our staff attend an ongoing training program to develop their skills and to ensure they keep up to date with technical advancements in the security industry.

We only use quality equipment from reputable manufacturers with UK based technical support. Once your system is installed, it doesn’t stop there we will give you whatever support you need. You can choose a maintenance package to suit your needs and we are always happy to help, whether over the phone, online, or in person.

Had a really good experience with ICOL recently. From the booking and the actual appointment it was great and not pushy on extras. I completely dismantled my alarm as it kept beeping and was unsure how to fix. Stuart aka Steve haha came and sorted everything out. He changed the batteries and showed me how to finally use the alarm properly which I am grateful for. Thank you!

I've never left a poor review before but felt compelled to do so after the absolutely abysmal customer service recently received from ICOL.  We had an engineer appointment booked to service an alarm. We would be overseas but had arranged someone to be there. Two days before the scheduled appointment, we received an email confirming the time and missed visit charges and cancellation fees, which were all fine. We were not asked to reconfirm the appointment, and so did not respond.  Two hours after that email confirmation, we received another email saying that the appointment had now been cancelled because we had not responded to attempted phone calls as we were overseas or emails as we had not been asked to respond.  When we queried the cancellation and asked for the appointment to be reinstated, instead of apologising for being overzealous with the cancellation, we were abrasively told to 'find another service provider'. Very strange and aggressive customer service behaviour for a business that touts "Service is our first concern", for what was ultimately a very simple issue that could have been quickly and easily resolved.

Very satisfied with ICOL’s service. We have been using them for the past four years for our alarm maintenance and they are always, professional, friendly and efficient.

Stuart and Alex are polite, courteous and punctual.  The girls in the office are efficient with any enquiry I’ve had from moving home to booking in the yearly service, the booking email system is concise.  It’s always good to know what time someone is going to be on site, which engineer is arriving and the exact cost.  I have a maintenance contract which gives me extra peace of mind and I know I can call if there is an issue usually a flat battery! The battery in the alarm box gave up the ghost yesterday, today an engineer is here repairing it. Thank you!

If I could give negative stars here I would! I dont think Ive ever dealt with a company with such rude staff and such a bullying way of squeezing every penny out of people and I know multiple people locally who have all had the same feedback. Its all a trap from the get go when you have a security system set up in order to 'gain access' to the cloud system to unlock/lock the system remotely you HAVE to have them perform maintenance to the system annually and be 'in contract' with them. This basically involves them charging 110 pounds to 'test' the system which takes no longer than 4 minutes and charging ridiculously overpriced batteries which dont need to be changed. They hussle and threaten you via email / phone to book the site visit annually and try and pre charge you before youve even booked the visit; and once youve had enough and tell them you want to leave they state you need to pay another year before you can if not they will threaten debt recovery action. ITS A JOKE. They own the system as they will never give you the master code to take your alarm system somewhere else. So as soon as they have fitted the system you are locked in with them and thats not what you want as they are super rude and are in it for the money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Stuart has fitted alarms to our last 2 houses, we have also recommended Icol to several friends and family, all have been impressed with the service, professionalism, and quality. Very impressed with Icol Security Systems.  We recently purchased their CCTV cameras which are excellent.  Their video door bell which does not require a subscription fee like other brands is great too. The 4K colour camera imagines are very sharp and clear.  Icol's customer services and after sales service is brilliant. Very pleased with the products, highly recommended.

We had an amazing experience with ICOL We were having an issue with our alarm and were aware that it was obsolete and that it required replacing.  The customer service was outstanding, and the product was exactly what we were looking for.  A quote was provided very quickly, the issue with our old alarm resolved and fitting of a new alarm system arranged.  They arrived to fit new system promptly.  Professional, tidy job completed for a very reasonable price.  Supportive and helpful when explaining how to work the alarm.  Overall the customer service at this company is excellent. They were accommodating and responsive to my questions.  I will definitely recommend this company to my friends and neighbours.

Myself and other family members have used Icol for a very long time. Installation etc is well thought through taking into consideration your needs but also your budget! Any time I have had any kind of issue or something technical I wasn’t sure of over the years customer service have been fantastic. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get an alarm system.

ICOL are the best company for security systems around. I have used them at each of the homes I have owned, as have my family for both alarms and security cameras. Very reasonably priced, they advise based on your needs, not what may earn them more money and, have on more than one occasion, advised me against buying the more expensive equipment when a cheaper version is just as good. Thank you ICOL for being trustworthy and customer focussed. Excellent service as always!
