Phoned for appt for my wife and spoke to unhelpful receptionist who was more interested in asking why I wasn't contacting them online instead of listening to me. I'm 75 and my wife is 76 and find it difficult not impossible to use computers to contact when under stress. Had to give my wife's details to a presumably untrained medically and was given impression Dr would triage and call back. Waited all day but no recall. Phoned up and found Dr had completely misunderstood our concern and sent a text giving her a physio appt for what was potentially a life changing medical concern of ours. Never called us back to tell us this and give us opportunity to explain our concern. Again unhelpful receptionist just wanted us to get online. And when we tried this found no appts left anyway and system had closed down. Complete waste of time. Discriminatory against elderly unfamiliar with websites/ computers. We will try to find a private Doctor tomorrow.
Not fit for purpose. Doctors surgery who refuse to book doctors appointments for a vulnerable patient. Medically untrained staff take notes or you have to fill it in online yourself cos apparently they cant do anything without consulting a computer first. It then gets passed to a duty doctor who then decides if you need to be seen. I'll add the staff taking the notes to begin with simply write what they like. Contacted Friday morning first thing with an emergency situation and still no contact at all from them. Called to find out why and the vulnerable patient has been referred to a team we didnt want or ask for in anyway. Haven't dealt with any of the actual issues at all.nThe surgery is in a high retirement area where most dont own a smart phone yet the surgery is insisting and pushing forward with ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE they simply no longer see patients as people any longer just machines.nOhhh and receptionists who insist on yelling about how they arent medically trained and how everything should be done online because its online. Let people book and see their dammed GP then you wouldn't need to be asked medical questions. Soon the computer will be answering the phones for you and you will be replaced.
I have to admit I have never been impressed with this surgery since I moved house 2 years ago. I was thinking of moving elsewhere until today when I met Dr Kallaway. A most engaging, interested and caring GP. He has restored my faith. Thank you Doctor K
I attended an Asthma Review appointment with Tamara White last night for a long-standing problem with breathing difficulties. This was probably best nurse appointment I have ever had; not just at Highcliffe, but in my 40 years working in healthcare. Tamara genuinely cared about what I was saying and used her clinical skills to offer me something that may beneficial. A thorough and knowledgeable clinician who made me feel that I am getting somewhere. Thank you!
I think they are very good, especially when I compare with other surgeries. Yes, it takes ages to get an answer to a phone call - but possibly the same at most surgeries. Whenever I have spoken to a receptionist I have later received a phone call from a doctor. Then, if we both think it's necessary, I have been given a face to face appointment. Depending on how urgent my co edition is that appointment has been the same day or 3 weeks later. They have followed up by text asking for updates and if necessary I have been given a further appointment. It's not perfect but I have been happy with the surgery for the last 25 years. Maybe I'm just lucky.
