It’s rare for me to discuss poor business tact. However, we had a horrible experience with this company. My husband contacted them because our boiler system’s pump was not working, leaving us in the cold with small children in house. We understand that we are not the only people in this position when Michigan fall rolls around. However, they said we would have to wait nearly two weeks to get a technician over to just evaluate. But if we paid a higher fee, they could come within a day or two, so we paid more. They called the following day with a quote of $1500.00. My husband requested a breakdown and they denied. I then called the business and spoke with the same woman, who also said they never break down fees for parts or their hourly charge. I explained to her that I prefer to be educated on a $1500.00 expense and if she could not do that for me I would take my business elsewhere. This had absolutely nothing to do with price comparing or shopping around. We understand small business, we support small business. I just felt that I’m entitled to know what I’m putting that much money towards. She proceeded to tell me I could call around and I thanked her and disconnected the line. We called another local company and they were happy to guarantee us a breakdown of parts needed and could get us in within 3 business days at their standard technician fee. I’m glad we dodged that bullet.
After I paid for a service call for my furnace, I was then requested to prepay hundreds of dollars 8 days prior to my repair. I'm so glad I called another company. The other company came the very next day left a bill on my counter and charged me $500 LESS! Will never call or recommend this company for service. Wish I could give a zero rating.
Forgot to give a great review from months ago.. This company was super professional and helpful. There was a standard charge for looking at my furnace back in early April. Long story short Consumers changed our gas metor and turned off the gas without letting us know I'm thinking the furnace isn't working, and fyi Consumers handled it well. The gentleman from Hi-Temp that came out educated me on the manner and was very professional and understanding. I got a call back from Hi-temp telling me that the situation I was in was unfortunate and that they wanted to take off a little something on the bill. Now I get it, special cases for every situation, but this to me shows excellence and proved that money wasn't the only thing that matters in this life. That customers matter more than dollars. Highly recommend!
They came out and diagnosed the problem quickly. Changed out the problem thermostat and did maintenance on our boiler. Cost less than expected. Highly recommended.
This place would not come help me when my furnace quit unless i agreed to pay for overtime charges ahead of time. Ripoff artists. Move on peeps!
