Heysham Nature Reserve is a little slice of heaven next to the industrial wasteland of Heysham Port and the power station. An enjoyable spot for a picnic with plenty of parking. The area is popular with dog walkers but there is also an area dogs aren't allowed for those that want a bit of peace from man's best friend. There's plenty of wildlife to experience and it's just a lovely place to visit.

A peaceful haven if you can zone out the buzz from the overhead power lines. Popular with dog walkers but the dog-free area is lovely for a quick walk. A pity that the ponds are overgrown and unloved but there is still wildlife to be spotted; I've seen newts, rabbits and even a weasel. A great place for a picnic on a sunny day and a scenic walk to the beach.

Excellent place, beautiful flora and wildlife and as an added bonus, absolute peace and quiet if you visit on a weekday. Plenty of photo opportunities
