Good service all round. Two chaps at the desk were very helpful. They do make it very clear when booking that the branch is located in a hotel. We took a taxi to the branch rather than wait for the shuttle bus. Very nice car given.
Make sure you check everything before you leave!! Used hertz before and never had an issue. After this experience never again. The vehicle we were given was…let’s call a spade a spade. Terrible. The cheapest car I’ve ever driven. Ive never driven a worse vehicle in my entire life. But whatever. The bigger issue… and for anyone renting from here again which I would NOT recommend make sure you take photos and keep receipts of everything. I returned the vehicle with a full tank of fuel as always, guy came when I arrived to drop the car off. Checked the mileage and everything and I went on my way. I receive my invoice and I’ve been charged £72 for not fuelling the car. Now one of two things has happened. Either a hertz are thieves stealing money from their customers. Or B their staff are completely incapable of doing their job correctly. I have been back and forth with their customer support which is absolutely dreadful. No help what so ever. I would give this place a 0 out of 5 if possible. I’d never EVER recommend hertz again to anybody. Stay well clear, pay the extra go with someone else. Also the fact it’s not in the airport is a massive inconvenience so there’s that too.
So this would be my first of 3 Rentals with Hertz Manchester airport and I feel with the reviews I have read on here, it is only right to offer an honest review of all of my rentals - I currently have a car on rental soo this one will be done when complete. So the first time I went it Hertz Manchester Airport was mid January, this was due to needing a hire car whilst I await my new car arrival, Hertz had a fantastic January offer on electric cars namely Polestars and up until a friend mentioned the offer I didn’t know Hertz rented these cars. Upon arrival there was a queue and I patiently waited whilst the queue squeezed into the small office, I then entered the office to be greeted by a friendly male and not so friendly female who of course was going to be serving me, she went through all the checks, advised me I had booked a polestar electric saloon, then as we got the part where a car is offered, she stated, ‘oh we don’t have a polestar clean’, I then asked what could be done, she advised if I wanted electric it would be a CORSA, if not she could do a small Citroen, I advised I had booked a saloon for a reason and electric also for that reason of driving one, luckily the gent sitting at the desk to the left overheard and said, ‘bare with me, let me see if any of the polestars are clean enough, if you don’t mind a little exterior dirt’, I of course said no not at all, i won’t be taking a car at all if all you can offer is a small car for my booking, the lady wasn’t happy at the gents intervention, advising when he went outside, ‘he shouldn’t be doing this at this time of night’, the branch was closing in 30 minutes so she just wanted to get home, then 10 mins later the gent arrived back with a car key in hand, he had even parked it near the door with the weather, the female completed the checkout - off I went into the car, I cleaned it the next day probably the best it has ever been cleaned with a full wax applied and the rental was great until the end. - The 4* are due to the gent staff member understanding and resolving, the female was dreadful. Polestar 2 - FWD Single Motor - Overall good condition car. Rental date - 12/01/2024 - 13day Rental. ——————- Just found out can only write one review so I’ll add to this one, as I feel it may be helpful. So my second rental - This was a prebooked 14 day rental, continuing from the first, once again I was greeted by the unfriendly lady at the rental office, I ended up keeping the same polestar I was in previously, a gent on the car park was helpful and offered me a clean different vehicle as it was a new rental, he also mentioned the 4WD Teslas but none were clean and ready to go the evening I went to renew my rental - I then called the next day and spoke to an agent - Jack - he advised come down and I could have the dual motor Tesla I had seen the evening before, so I traveled the 30miles, I then got to the rental station, was greeted by 2 friendly gents outside, went into the office to ‘swap’ - so I thought, well Jack was prepared to switch the cars, the female was not due to a price discrepancy - and was very rude to Jack infront of me, made me feel very awkward - cutting the story short, I went outside to the car park upset, the two gents outside saw this and within 5 minutes all was resolved by the great management team and I was on my way in the dual motor Tesla as promised - my only problem is I wish people had looked after the cars better as it had damage to all the wheel and scratches etc… but I suppose not everyone will care for it as it is a rental car after all, so Hertz cannot help this, I must say though the management team jumped in to resolve my issues and up to yet apart from a few niggles it has been a good experience - the only thing that could be better as stated is I wish the Tesla’s were in better condition. Overall a good rental experience, unexpected EV charge at end of rentals - this took a few days to resolve. I would say that hertz need to work on a few things but I found the management did a great job with the problems.
Very happy with the service inc the staff, manager and quality of the car. Yes the rental hire is at a hotel but it’s the same distance and time away as the car village and the pickup is on the same time schedule every 20mins. They even offered a free upgrade to a bigger electric car which we didn’t take as was going into the wilderness but great experience would use again next time I’m in town.
Worst experience with Hertz that I ever had. Car park is away from airport no signs for directiion, need shuttle back and forth to terminal. Parking space far from the office which is also inside Delta hotel with no automatic doors, long walk with luggage and heavy doors. On the return no signs long walk around the hotel to the unmarked shuttle station back to airport every 20 min and additional 10 min drive.
Shockingly bad customer service - tried to book a child car seat with my booking, was told I couldn't reserve one but there was plenty available and they could be rented at the time of pickup. I explained my concern as I needed to ensure the availability as I was travelling with my son. I called and spoke to the local branch who again assured me, I also emailed the branch manager Michael for assistance but my emails were ignored. I later found that there were actually no child car seats available at the Manchester Airport Branch and if I had trusted them I would have been left stranded with no way to travel from the airport with my son. Luckily was able to cancel my booking and rebook with a decent car hire company.
Terribly poor experience. No pick up from the airport, poorly kept and dirty office, car not ready despite having lost 45 minutes and spent 11GBP on a taxi to reach the Hertz office. Staff, instead of showing a minimum of accountability, showed none of it, putting the blame on others. No precise instructions given on where to find the car on a big, gravel car park. Given a Seat instead of Tesla after having received probably a dozen of Hertz emails with instructions on how to use the Tesla. Very poor service standards. Not to be recommended.
The actual rental experience was actually quite smooth and pleasant. However, the whole experience was made MUCH worse because of bad non existant shuttle experience. Hertz is NOT in the car Rental Village where all other car rental companies are and relies on the hotel shuttle to Marriott. When we arrived at the airport, we waited OVER 45 minutes without seeing any shuttle and no time table or phone number!!. During this time we saw 3 buses ! to the rental village pass by. So we ended up taking a taxi. This is not the way you want to be welcomed to the UK. I would say that Hertz needs to step up the shuttle service to remain competitive in this location. Also, the information we received upon arrival was correct, but lacked a shuttle bus schedule and phone number to call when things are not working. With children, there is very liten margin for error on this matter.
I wasn't happy with my rental here back in March. In none of the confirmations emails does it say that you need to get a shuttle to get to their office. It does say it on the website when you look for it, but not on the booking or confirmation page. It will only show you the address of the pick up location, but not how to get there. Getting the shuttle was however easy and uncomplicated, you only need to show the driver your booking and the office is only 5 minutes away from the airport. The staff in the office wasn't the friendliest. When we tried to pay our deposit and the fare none of our 5 credit and debit cards seemed to be working with their machine they worked just fine at the airport. The staff kept commenting that we didn't have enough money which wasn't the case and which was borderline rude. The staff also wouldn't acknowledge my Miles&More card and said it 'was all in the system', even though I specifically booked with them to receive extra miles, which, surprise surprise, I didn't get credited after the rental. We also received a parking ticket by mistake the camera in the parking lot wasn't working properly and the ticket got voided by that company, however Hertz still charged us a processing fee even though we didn't do anything wrong and the parking notice was given to us due to a faulty security system. After contacting Hertz which you can only do by email or form on their website, because it is impossible to reach this specific office by phone they refused to credit me the miles their internal system wouldn't allow it and they also wouldn't wave the fees for the wrongful parking ticket. The EV Car Polestar we got, was clean and worked well. The drop off was weird as no instructions were given on where to drop the car and the staff working in the parking lot wasn't visibly working for Hertz so we didn't really know what to do and entered their office to ask and were told to drop the car near the 'drop off box'. That box wasn't visible as there were two cars parked in front of it. I wouldn't rent here again even if the car was the cheapest in the area.
We returned a car without damage and within minutes received a bill for damage. We have had about 12 emails so far, have sent them the check in video we took when we dropped off the car, and they will not even acknowledge the video or the photos we are sending them that prove there is no damage. They just simply respond by writing "we stand by our decision because the vehicle was returned with a scratch on the right rear door" even though our video shows it was turned in without damage. Our credit car company is going to help us dispute this and they told us this is unfortunately a common occurrence with Hertz overseas. Two months ago our representative told us he was getting calls like this about ten times a week with Hertz overseas.
