I really like Hersham as a small, local, simple course. But what is going on? The tee boxes are in an absolutely terrible state. Very little care or attention being paid to them. A real shame.
It's 6 months since I played this course and went back today to see if things had improved... simple answer No ... most of the fairways on the front 9 were waterlogged.. the back 9 fairways were rough and full of weeds. I'm guessing as the club is trying to sell to a developer they are not spending any money on course maintenance.
Fantastic 18 hole course. The fore 9 is a traditional woodland course, while the back 9 is more of a links course, with plenty of rolling hills and undulating grounds. All in, it makes for a challenging round of golf. The clubhouse is quite modern, with a decent bar and favourably priced menu. Early golfers will appreciate the excellent full English breakfast. They also have a driving range.
On my visit the pro Phil was arrogant unwelcoming. It's a shame because the course was nice .the Marshall was a great lad . Will probably not come back due to the poor customer service I'm the paying customer so should be treated well . I
BUSY! Took 2.5hours to do 6 holes on the weekend. Crammed in tee times, big groups and low standard of golfers really slowed up play. Often had to queue on tees.nnWas a shame because the course was in great condition considering the weather.
