A nice little park, with a big history. Originally the grounds of a mill, the layout of the mill pond and water course is still visible despite it having been demolished over a century ago. Used more recently for a private dwelling, the land has been open to the public for years. Built in 1840, the house and estate were bought by the town council in 1911 to form the park. The house was used as a hospital during the First World War, but after a number of years of misuse, it was demolished in 1963, being replaced by the shelter that still stands. A favourite for dog walking, the park has gravel paths for easy access, though in heavy rain, they can be a little muddy. There is also an excellent swing park for the children, which is fenced all round.
