Took the Thursday 11.05am tour with Angie as our guide. She was terrific, very knowledgeable and brought the Cathedral to life. We even learnt why some statues or stonework had faces missing and others had limbs cut off!! The cafe is excellent we had coffee and cake for morning and toasted brie and crambery for lunch. Simply marvelous
Did the Tower Tour today. Absolutely excellent and worth the fee. The tour guides were really knowledgeable. I even helped out when I was in the ringing room. The view from the roof is stunning. Could see Wales, Shropshire and all the way to the Malverns
We had a lovely afternoon visiting the Cathedral. We first of all had coffee and a scone outside in the cafe area. It was a very relaxing place to eat. Afterwards we went to the Cathedral shop. We then lit a candle in the Cathedral and then to my delight, prayers were taking place so we sat quietly and took part. Wonderful!
Beautiful cathedral, no front desk making sure you pay on arrival, donation, so much more welcoming. Tours available, small charge for visit to chained library and mappa mundi well worth it. Lovely coffee shop.
We spent two hours in the mappa Mundi exhibition and chained library so I'd recommend at least another hour to also do the cathedral and cafe justice! Really great knowledgeable guides who made our visit so worthwhile.
