Parked in the car park for £4.50 for the day, walked over a pedestrian bridge straight into the gallery. Light and airy and was well set out. Enjoyed every part of it. Did have to wait 35 minutes for a lunch but that gave us time to talk about what we had seen etc. Best gallery set in the industrial North. Would go again.
Very near to The Hepworth Gallery so very convenient however the machine was terrible. Long queues as each of us took ages to purchase a ticket. I tried to use the Evology parking online and all that did was take £1 from me to confirm an account and then didn't let me actually purchase a ticket.nnI'm updating this review. The £1 that was taken from me was for a fitness subscription - the Evology link had somehow diverted me to a fitness page and instead of the £1 being used to verify a payment card for Evology, it was to subscribe to this fitness site for 1 day AFTER WHICH there would be a renewed subscription taken from my account for £59.99. I had to ring this fitness place tonictrain to cancel it.
Bit small considering the venue it covers. No free Blue Badge parking. Awful ticket machine with number plate recognition.
Plenty of space. Ticket machine the worst I have come across. Long queue , most people took at least 2 attempts, some many more to get the required Ticket.
The Hepworth Gallery is a great place to visit, however, the management of their car park by Parkingeye is appalling. We have always parked in the Thornes Lane car park, but on the one occasion that it was full, we parked some distance away and spent the day at the Gallery. I then arranged to pick up my wife and children from the car park, as it was a rainy winters day. Our 2-month-old needed to be fed before departing, so we were unexpectedly delayed setting off, though the car engine was never switched off and we did not leave the car. We exceeded Parkingeye’s 10 minute grace period by just 3 minutes and received a fine. Despite a full explanation being provided, they completely ignored this and decided to blindly pursue court proceedings to recover the cost of those 3 minutes. They eventually offered to settle the claim for £70, having incurred the time and cost of issuing court proceedings. I later discovered that the Gallery has the ability to cancel the charges if you contact them direct and upon receiving details of our case they were happy to cancel the penalty. Unfortunately, however, as soon as Parkingeye issue proceedings the Gallery lose the ability to cancel. The initial penalty notice of course omits any mention of this and suggests that your only option is to appeal, and if you do Parkingeye will simply ignore your comments. If you receive a fine unjustly from this disgraceful outfit, I would suggest contacting the Hepworth Gallery directly, as their employees seem to actually have some sense of decency and common sense, unlike Parkingeye.
