Without doubt this is now the best chippy in braintree I drive for about ten minutes past the one on my doorstep to go here. Its spotlessly clean, extremely friendly. Something I've never seen before is the fish is kept in a chiller cabinet in front of you when you walk in. This means not only will it be freshly cooked but you can choose it pre cooking. Parking: There is plenty of on road parking
INSANELY GOOD - Need delivery!!!!! And can pay by card any price!! Finally an exceptional chip shop and keeping up with the times! Incredible!
What lovely friendly polite happy staff they chips are amazing cooked just right and crispy with fluffy inside definitely worth a try A++++
Fish is great but chips are dreadful, I would suggest they had been pre cooked and sat in the warmer for ages because they are hard and dry,
Were rather hesitant after hearing it called ‘the best chip shop in Braintree’ as that creates high expectations. However, upon trying the chips last week, we very much agree! These are the best chip shop chips we’ve found. We’ve not tried any other food from there as we’re vegan with strict allergies so only losing a star for lack of other choices for us. But will def be back for chips!
Chicken was nasty, really nasty. Staff are polite but not very switched on and I've been in a few times just to be sure. Ordered a large battered sausage and small chips, got a small unbattered sausage large chips. When I mentioned this to the staff member they told me I hadn't ordered what I had but changed the order anyway without charge so pleased about that.
When you order a large Haddock you don't expect half the side just batter on skin I get more in a medium
Very good ,their fish and chips were really nice and their service was great. All of us enjoyed our meal provided by John's we would recommend them . Thank you
Had really high hopes for the new chipshop... but unfortunately it is just as bad as its prediceser Henleys.... ordered fish and chips, got them home to find out they couldn't be bothered to get rid of the chips they didn't sell at lunchtime.... so let's re fry them in the evening.... soggy, tasteless and like bullets.... fish was OK... not very impressed for a tenner.... Will not be revisiting
I don't live in Braintree.. my mum treated us to fish and chips from John's of Braintree.. both the chips and fish cooked to order, fish was thick and white, with crispy batter.. chips were perfect... hope mum treats us again from here.
