If you are looking for a dentist who takes the fear and anxiety out of your visit then give this practice a complete body swerve! They say the welcome you get at any business gives you an overall impression of the service you receive. The receptionists barely look at you and God forbid you expect them to cease their personal conversation to speak to you. The dentist sat with her back to me while I tried to explain my problem and it was greeted with derision and disbelief to the point she even let out a huge sigh/huff!! I could not believe her attitude although in my year of appointments with her she has never come across as someone who puts nervous patients at ease, however, I gave her the benefit of the doubt on previous appointments. My overall impression is and has been that you are rushed in and out as quick as possible. Nothing personable about either the dentist or her reception team. Telling her I was anxious only served to make her bad attitude worse. On this occasion I left without my problem fully resolved as I couldn't wait to get out. I have since rung another practice and the difference, from one phone call, was palpable. Good luck if you choose to risk!
I don't know if they've had new staff come in having read the prior reviews however having just started coming to this dentist I have found the reception team to be lovely, friendly and helpful. Not one of them has ever been rude at all. Not to me at least. The dentist I seen is compassionate and efficient and I've had no issues with them at all. In fact I would absolutely recommend this dentist to anyone. The only downside is trying to get parked anywhere nearby. If you're lucky you can get a disc zone space in the town centre a 5min walk away but I would definitely allow extra time to find parking and get there. Also if you have a pram the treatment rooms are upstairs which can be tricky but this aside, definitely a great dentist
Fully understand the bad reviews. Ignorant reception staff to the point of plain rudeness. The female Dentist is short in temper and very unprofessional. Rob is the complete opposite. He spends time explaining each procedure and works efficiently and professionally. If he leaves then so will I.
Absolute shambles this place. Had an emergency appointment booked for two weeks after I rang. That one was cancelled due to a dentist being Ill fair enough rearranged appointment two weeks later I turned up the surgery was closed waited 30 mins outside no one came. No phone call or apology to explain.
I can only comment on the receptionist. When I phoned on Friday afternoon, the phone was answered almost immediately, but I was then told I would be on hold. I had read the reviews and feared the worst. However I wanted to persist as I had read that it was still taking NHS patients and I was looking for a place for a family member. When the lady came on the phone, she was polite and informed. She listened to me; unfortunately the practice could not help but she went the extra mile and told me of another practice to try. Amazingly they still had space!
Absolutely shocking. Waited for months and months for an appointment and they keep cancelling. Was meant to be there tomorrow and they said me and my partner had cancelled past appointments- they ring us everytime to cancel ! Going to rip my hair out xx
Extremely hostile staff. During an emergency appointment had the existence of my symptoms flat out denied, with my offer to demonstrate them there and then ignored. Genuinely shocked by how rude the dentist was.
Horrible experience. Do not go here.!!! Female Dentist is so rude and has a very hostile attitude. Everything about the visit made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
Two failed crowns, fillings too deep that killed 3 teeth. Not the best dentist in the world!!!
Was registered with Hencotes from 2006 till we moved out of area in 2013. Moved back in 2020. Mr Rob Ogilivie was and is our dentist through this period. Very professional and gives good preventative advice. Just had a troublesome wisdom tooth removed and was a bit nervous but went so smoothly. He’s a great dentist and reception staff really nice.
