Fantastic open air pool. Great for a swim or a family day out. The family fun time with all the floats was great for the kids, but other swim sessions allow for laps if that's your thing. There are tables and chairs around the pool, and you can take in food and drink for picknicks and snacks no glass or alcohol though!. Each session is around 1hr 45 and with numbers being controlled, doesn't get too overcrowded. The staff are friendly, the pool well maintained and a good temperature once you're in. We had a great day out! Would highly recommend - especially with a little tub of Yorkshire ice cream from the tuck shop after! The changing rooms could do with an upgrade which they're currently fundraising for. Lovely, local pool, well worth a visit!
A very refreshing way to cool down on a hot day. Good size pool, clean and great value. Loving the poolside snack shack too
Wasn't sure what to expect from family fun time but it seems you bring your own inflatables and enjoy messing about. It suited my children perfectly and we had a great time. The pool is clean and a decent size, surrounded by a grassy area to sit and relax with tables and chairs. The sun shone and it was lovely. £17 for a family of five for 1 hour 45 mins is a great price and the surroundings as you would expect from Helmsley were lovely. Changing rooms were a bit run down but clean so it doesn't ruin your visit. Apparently the pool is run by volunteers and they do a brilliant job. We will return.
Great afternoon swim at Pickering Outdoor pool. Water temperature 28 degrees. So nice. Love coming here on holiday. Easy to book online now too and to check availability.
Fantastic outdoor pool. We went for the 3.15pm fun inflatable session. It was great. Water was good temperature. Not too many people. Probably needed a few more inflatables but the kids had a fab time. Really relaxed afternoon activity and super reasonable price. £13.50 for two adults, child and infant. Tmrw this community pool celebrates 50 years! Happy 50th to all the staff and sponsors! We will certainly be back
Spent a glorious couple of hours at this little gem, that's tucked out of the way behind the church yard. The staff couldn't do enough for me, I'm disabled. We took a small picnic with us and sat at one of the many tables & chairs/picnic benches, all with parasols around the pool. Water was lovely, especially on such a hot day. Well worth a visit. Pre-booking required.
Fantastic! Magical evening swim with the children, under the stars! Glow sticks were provided & made the atmosphere special. Watching the Persied meteor shower & the magnificent star covered sky.
Booked an adult only swim 11.15-13.00. Clean pool. Lots of outdoor seating. Kiosk sells inexpensive drinks /sweets/etc. Easy to book on line. Good old fashioned fun in a lovely country setting with views.
Whilst I’m pleased to see Helmsley open air swimming pool busy I do question the booking system. I tried contacting them by phone on numerous times this morning to get the same automatic reply; telling me that to get the fastest response I should email them, which I did. I did eventually receive a response just after 12:30 hours. Obviously not everybody that uses the pool lives locally and it takes time to travel, and has increased drastically in recent months - if you haven’t got time to answer the phone then I suggest that the message reflect that there is no spaces for that session or sessions, and the website show similar information
Lovely swim. Basic facilities but a great experience. The two staff were excellent, and you could get a cuppa! Lovely setting.
