My friend and I went to the cafe and had a lovely full English breakfast. Very tasty and good value. The staff were lovely and attentive. We will definitely visit again. We had a quick look around the museum, but will return to take in more of the information.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait

Another great evening at the Museum watching Rod Stewart on the big screen. We had a platter of snacks which was plentiful and a good variation. Thank you to the hard working staff once again for a fun evening.

Great place to visit for local history.

This is a place of times gone by,by not embracing it ,but seeing it hands on what it was like.I believe this is a gold mine of information,as opposed,to children expected to just reading it in a book,you can see for yourself,by admiring the well kept artifacts,having the latest technology at your finger tips to see what it was like.see for yourself how hard it was someone to survive.note how many hours a eight year old was expected to work,how the mines must of been etc etc.besides Helena Thompson,this museum pays homage to the Curwens,who I've been told are a well known English gentry ,of very high standing. The grounds can also be used for weddings. Note the well kept gardens.workington,you have a true gem in your hands.I hope you make the best of it,and continue to support them.

My mum and dad got married here, and it's the best wedding venue I have ever been to. The staff were lovely, it had a great atmosphere and the wedding guests all enjoyed it very much. A great afternoon out, we were lucky enough to get a guided tour all to ourselves. The man that took us round was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would highly recommended a visit if you want to know the local history of west Cumbria.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

Recently held our daughters christening celebration at the Helena Thompson and the whole event was excellent. The room was very nicely set up, the buffet was brilliant, with plenty for everyone. The bar is very reasonably priced and had a good selection available. Throughout our time there the staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful, even moving tables so we could take some photos indoors due to the weather outside not being brilliant. I would highly recommend the Helena Thompson for any events.
