Went to get a custom birthday cake done, they have a whole book of cakes to look at in the shop and they are so nice, happy to sit and get your idea put down. Even our smaller sized chocolate cake was decorated beautifully, great flavor and decadent. Whole family raved about it. : They also made us a fresh batch of old fashioned bakewell at request. All of it was so good and I highly recommend.
I had the best time here after stumbling in for a quick lunch. The food, cakes, and people are all so kind. Will definitely come back!Food: 5/5
Best place to eat by miles!! Food is good quality, tasty and locally sourced too!! Staff and atmosphere are really welcoming!! Been going there for years and wouldn't go anywhere else now. Breakfast lunch main meals and above all they're homemade cakes are so yummy. Well done Helen and staff Food: 5/5
Been to Helen's Bakehouse in Burton Marketplace twice with my partner and we had full English breakfast. The food was excellent. They also have a wonderful selection of fresh cakes, a lovely environment, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Nice caffe, good service. they have got gluten free options. My tuna mayo sandwich was quite nice. It was around three pounds takeaway, which is a great price for GF sandwich.
Just would like to mention how sweet the little girl was who served me and my wife last friday! Made sure we had everything we needed and always had a smile on her face :Food: 4/5
Wonderful traditional cafe/bakehouse, cakes shop made not factory made. Excellent breakfast and light lunch menu with some innovative options. Very good prices, comfortable if compact seating area. Super staff very friendly.

The staff were lovley, food was so lovely and so reasonably priced! My mum and i shared a doorstop sausage and bacon sandwich and 2 crossaints and all was super! There is treats to take away too which is a lovely idea! We will be returning for more soon!
Helens bakehouse is a lovely little place for something nice to eat. The food is well cooked and very tasty with a good choice on the menu. They even have oat milk as an alternative to dairy. The breakfast 'builder' is a particular favourite of mine. You can choose your own items for a cooked breakfast, which is ideal for anyone with certain food intolerance or vegetarians. The tearoom is very busy and at certain times a day there maybe a wait for a table. The tearoom itself is small, and it is clean, but unfortunately, the toilets are upstairs, so it is not ideal for anyone with disabilities. There are also not really enough room round tables for wheelchairs or pushchairs/prams. There is seating outside in the summer months and during bouts of good weather. The reason I gave Helens 3 stars is because of the smell of the cooking, and sometimes it gets into your clothes and hair. The kitchen is in the tearoom behind a bar type separator. I have even been in when it's been so bad it gets in your eyes!. And also the lack of disabled amenities. Having said this, it hasn't put me off as the food is nice and service is good with pleasant staff. They also sell jams and preserves, and you can also have a takeaway.
