More commonly referred to as the Methodist Chapel it was built in 1906 in the Arts and Crafts style. I lived nearly next door to it for most of my life, my grandparents were married there in 1916, my parents in 1948 and myself in 1990. I was christened there as were my children- so how can I not give it 5 stars ! Like most churches, the congregation has dwindled over the years, so much so that services are now only held on a couple of Sundays in the month in a side room rather than the actual chapel itself. There is a healthy pre-school which generates enough income to keep the place going. There is a car park and disabled access. It used to have a fantastic pipe organ, sadly replaced in the '90s due to rising maintenance costs and shortage of people able to play it. The original offset wooden bench seating still remains. The trees and shrubs in front of chapel also provide great photo opportunities especially in the spring and autumn. It also hosts a thriving pensioners fish and chip lunch club on the first and third Tuesday of every month. In summary, a small gem in the middle of Station Road. Try and see it if you are passing.
