This was my first visit to The Bat and Ball. We got a very pleasant greeting when we arrived and were looked after by the staff. It was very busy, so obviously they have a good reputation. The food was divine. We had the Christmas dinner and it was a good plate full. I went for the Christmas pudding, but thought the portion size was a bit small compared to the cheeseboard being devoured next to me. Would I go again? Absolutely. 10/10
I camped at the adjoining site, which is very well equipped. There's a choice of accommodation ranging from shepherds huts, camper and caravan hook ups to a tent field. The shower and toilet block is very clean and well looked after, a pleasure to use. The reception was warm and welcoming, what else might one wish for? The Bat & Ball pub was lovely, in a charming semi rural setting with beautifully tended gardens and window boxes. For warmer days, there's an excellent outdoor seating area plus barbequeing area. There's a good choice of beers and a warm welcome. I'd love to return
I enjoyed a meal here with friends and family. I ordered half a roast chicken - a massive portion with Yorkshire pudding and veg. And needless to say very, very yummy! The setting is equally spectacular with the sun shining on the pub's floral opulence, a beautiful pond with a duckling making his grand entrance via the gangplank. Simply lovely!
The place is beautiful. The thing I liked the most was the architecture and there's a little pond in front of the pub. The staff was very nice as well. Now, the food was such a let down. The place looked so good so I expected something else. It was a little pricy for the sandwiches and the amount of chicken and sausage was not even a lot, pure bread and sauce. I would go again and maybe try the burger. I would recommend going for drinks rather than having a meal.
Lovely country pub. Always welcoming and super efficient service. Their roasts are enormous and the vegetarian roast is always really tasty. We love the decor too and the wood burner stoves. They easily cater for my sister who has a severe dairy allergy. Dietary restrictions: The Bat and Ball had no problem catering for a dairy free diet. They double checked everything with the chef first.
Very busy pub and no space in large carpark. It was a Friday night but still a sign. Fairly limited menu and a couple of mains unavailable. Food is good but the duck portion was small with limited veg. Have had better meals here before. Service always good. Still a favourite.Food: 4/5
Had a meal with friends to celebrate my birthday. Had a great evening. The staff were really nice and fun. Food excellent and the courtyard was stunning with all the flowers and great lighting. This will become a regular place to go for a meal. Couldn't fault it
It is set well back from the road with masses of parking. It is very well presented inside and out and lot of time & money has gone into the look. The lady behind the bar manager? if very hospitable and lovely. My dining experience was rather unfortunate with the baguette I ordered made from stuff obviously cooked poorly the day before and served cold and dry. I decided to let them know and they were very happy to rectify it, but unfortunately I didn’t get what I had ordered . On reflection I was a bit surprised that they had asked me to pay for either dish. I suspect based on the how busy they were I was unlucky but…. Parking: Lots of parking
Went there for the first time for dinner with my wife. All I can say is I'm super impressed with the food, and service. A beautiful pub. Will definitely go back.
Had Sunday roast here and very disappointed. Pork was tough as was my wife's beef , vegetables were almost uncooked,,potatoes rock hard and the whole meal was barely warm. Very expensive as well. The pub its self is very nice as are the staff. Sadly the food is another matter.Went with friends and none of us would return I'm afraid.
