I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Haystack Hostel in Edinburgh. From the moment I arrived, the staff provided exceptional service and made the check-in process seamless. They were incredibly accommodating, especially considering my late-night flight was delayed. The hostel itself is immaculate and incredibly comfortable, with a strong emphasis on privacy and quietness. Located in the heart of Edinburgh, it's convenient for exploring the city's attractions. I highly recommend staying here; it's truly worth it
The hotel experience was quite disappointing. The heating system wasn't functional, the hot water in the shower would go off every five minutes, and there were unpleasant odors in the toilet. Additionally, the bed was not clean, causing discomfort and itchiness. Due to these issues, I decided to check out earlier than planned. However, when I requested a refund from the manager, it was denied. Despite the poor quality of the facilities, a refund was not offered, which adds to the overall dissatisfaction with the stay.
Great location and very comfy beds but the showers weren’t very clean as there was a lot of hair around the shower drains and the shower floor. Do bring an extra pair of sandals for the shower. The kitchen and common room space was clean and usable.
Spent 2 nights here. It's perfect for a spot to crash and and base out of. You won't find a better location with more convenient proximity to transportation, dining, and the normal tourist stops. Fantastic pricing. Staff was very helpful. My only knock is the bathrooms are a little... too hostel-y. Would love cleaner showers and more consistent hot water. Other than that, fantastic stay.
It's an okay hostel, but just okay. The beds were pretty uncomfortable with very thin mattresses, and the bunk beds are too low to even sit in them and I am really small which feels a bit claustrophobic. There are not much of common areas, only a small kitchen, so if you're thinking of doing some kind of remote work during your holiday or are traveling solo and want to meet people I would not recommend this place. But if you're just looking for a place to sleep for a night or two it's fine. Breakfast in the cafe downstairs is really nice and affordable with the hostel voucher : And the staff was really friendly and nice :
Booked a room last minute and when I arrived, I was offered a dorm with less people for the same price which was greatly appreciated. The bed was comfortable, there's a lockable cage underneath the bunk beds to store your valuables and most importantly the sheets were clean. The bathroom was a little narrow, however it had multiple sinks and again, like the entirety of the hostel, was super clean. Super friendly reception staff, secure entry with code required, fast internet and in a great location. Be forewarned that there is a spiral staircase that needs to be tackled to reach the hostel, so I wouldn't suggest bringing a big suitcase unless you'd like a workout! Upon check out, they allowed me to chill out in their reception area and use the wifi for a few hours, whilst I waited for my flight which was incredibly appreciated! For anyone who wants to explore after checkout, you can also leave your luggage behind the desk and pick it up later on. I highly recommend this place :
Great Hostel in a amazing location, very welcoming and friendly staff. Comfy beds, warm rooms on cold nights, hot showers, good common spaces and a roomy kitchen with all the tools you’d ever need. Room for your luggage and fast usb phone charging. Met wonderful people from all over the globe. Would most definitely stay again. Thank you very much!
It was my second time staying in a hostel and my partners first. He was a little apprehensive as the idea of sharing rooms with people was unusual for him. However, we just needed a cheap night somewhere before heading to Dundee. We arrived late after our flight was delayed but this wasn't an issue. We were welcomed and shown around and told about breakfast, showers, toilets etc. We were shown to our room where everything was explained to us. Surprisingly, how beds were super comfortable. We had our own lights and plug sockets which was a bonus. Each bed had blackout curtains too which made you feel as though you weren't in a room with others and you weren't worried about people looking at you. Breakfast was basic continental but a good touch with tea and coffee etc. Towels are provided the showers and the facilities were clean. Check in and check out was easy and quick so there was no panic about missing the bus etc. Overall, a great stay which has improved our outlook on hostels.
Lovely hostel and nicely decorated! It is very clean, comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The room is quite spacious for bunk bed type of accommodation for you to move around. The locker they provided is also big enough for my 25 inch luggage to put inside. You might need your own amenities, though they provide a bucket of all sorts of toiletries there. You need to ask for towels. Make sure you don't bring any heavy luggage with you if you are staying here since they only have staircase access they are on third floor! The location is very strategic, although it might be a bit tricky to find - they share a building princess street backpackers or sth like that with another hostel the Baxter, it is just beside the left side a pub to help you find it. Will stay here again should i visit Edinburgh on budget next time. :"
Great hostel location right across from Waverley train station. The hostel is clean the facilities are easy to use. The staff are also very friendly and helpful! Would definetly stay again
