I have been with Haygate vets for around twenty years. I have never had reason to fault any aspect of care that any of my animals have received. All vets have always been very thorough and all members of staff are always very efficient and pleasant. The compassion they have shown to me when I have lost animals was amazing with Sarah coming to my home to give me her honest, trusted advice.nI tend to use Oakengates practice mostly and the reason for this is Norma! To me she is the face of Haygate and the main reason I stay with the practice
Avoid!!!nRecently took my 15 year old cat here and the out of hours night staff were absolutely awful. Every time i called for advice during the night, worried as my cat was deteriorating they would huff and puff as soon as i said who was calling and what i was calling for.nWe had him assessed two weeks previously and he was put on palliative treatment, although we knew the outcome was not looking good the care by the night team was shocking. Once i finally managed to convince them he was not in a good way, as soon as i got in reception i was thrown a cremation pack. After he was assessed we agreed putting him to sleep was best outcome and having returned back to reception following this, clearly visibly distraught there was absolutely no compassion or sympathy not even a sorry for your loss.... just more paper work thrown my way the bill.nWill never use this vets again, as you can imagine as a pet lover losing your beloved pet after 15 years then to have to deal with that treatment made this all so much harder to deal with.
Bonnie beagle was unwell after surgery spay repeated times we got told she was fine being charged to take her in to be told this.... multiple times we said she isn't. They gave her more pain meds, we would ring again and reception were also telling us that it's normal not trained to give advice I wrote a letter of concern to the manager and was told to take her in again. I got a phone call at 1am to be told bloods have come back and she was suffering with kidney failure effects from the anaesthetic. So giving her more pain medication to begin with would of done more harm. We were told she had 50/50 chance of survival. They admitted they were in the wrong and the bill was significantly reduced but still had to pay something. She was kept in for over a week having a continuation of fluids put through her. The care she finally got was good but it shouldn't of taken so long for them to react.nnResponse to your reply I was never going to mention our experience we had back in 2022, we should of chosen a different vets, why we didn't, more fool us.... It was when you gave us a bill which had flea tablets on costing £133.40, that showed us how bad you can actually be and thought people should know. Who can justify charging £133.40 for flea tablets that cost a fraction of that online!
We saw a really lovely vet called Emily today. We were in for routine booster injections, but she was so kind and lovely towards our dog. Gave her cuddles and made her feel safe. It was nice to have such a warm kind vet :
From the minute we were referred to Haygate for an emergency appointment and treatment for our beautiful Golden Retriever Kai, every single one of the team there were professional, polite, knowledgeable, caring and empathetic. They did everything they could for Kai and managed to explain complications clearly and precisely. When we asked for their advice, they gave this and made recommendations rather than just leaving decisions to us.nSadly Kai had to be put to sleep but they handled everything so sensitively and allowed us to take Kai into their garden one last time because he loved being outside. I couldn't recommend this vets high enough. Thank you Haygate
