On my arrival I always receive a warmnWelcome and a good handover from the lead nurse or carer.nThe home is always clean and tidy. And is very much a home for the residents and not a workplace for the staff.nThe staff are very dedicated, caring. The is cascades from the manager to the staff on the floor.nI would strongly recommend this home for anyone requiring nursing care.
My mum died at Havens care home in September 2024. The care she received from care staff was good and most were lovely and supportive. The night she died there was just one nurse for 42 residents. The nurse did not make me aware that my mums breathing had deteriorated at approximately 10pm and by midnight she had died. The nurse called me at that time and but it was too late. I therefore was not physically present with my amazing mum when she took her last breath. I have been devastated by this for the past 16 months, and wish to make others aware of the poor staffing ratio to patients. In addition care staff are working 12 hours shifts on minimum wage. It is extremely poor practice that the nurse did not call me at 10pm and demonstrates a lack of experience and professionalism. The aim of my review is to make others aware.
Nan had a wonderful room and the food was amazing- so much choice every daynShe had something to do every day and was always out on trips. Seeing her smile again after so long in hospital was so lovely.nThe home is run so well and I never felt worried leaving my Nan there. Highly recommend, thank you to you all
Haven is a great place. I always thought care homes would be dull places but how wrong was I!nThere is so much to do and so much fun and laughter for the residents every day- a real feeling that everyone is part of a huge family
Absolutely shocking I would not put any other family member in here to the point we waiting for my MIL to be moved. She has to wait ages for her pain meds and even her food some times up to an hour Her diabetes has been poorly managed with only having her bloods tested once a day when should be more coz she on insulin. We had a meeting with the manger who tbh is so un caring I’m surprised he even in charge of a care home. When had a meeting with him he had an attitude of he could not care less to the point we left the meeting with more concern for my MIL. After the meeting we came out and my MIL was still waiting for her food so I hat to ask a carer where it was who quickly got it. I then went in told the manager about this and again he showed no care at all. It has takenA doctor to tell them to monitor her bloods more which should not off been needed when we already raised this concern for this care home to act. We reported this care home to ESCC and the CQC and since doing this the care home have been treating her worse to the point it impacting on her mental health. I have again hat to ring ESCC coz my MIL rang me up in a state due to how she being treated here. If they’re doing this to my MIL who is only 63 what are they doing to the older residents who don’t have family to look out for them.
