Great place to come to, especially in summer! Located on the top of the hill with beautiful view on the sea. Going up the hill can be a bit difficult as it is quite steep. Castle is temporary closed. Will be open again in February 2022. There are public toilets just at the back of the cafe. Lots of little shops and places to eat too! Definitely will be back there again!
If you ready to climb - it is your place plus it worth it because the view of the town is superb! But with small kids it can be challenging if you do not know right way to come! We came from up down and I saw you can use not so hard way but I did not get how. The tickets per person is 6.5 and for my point of view it is too much.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Fantastic site, there's information boards on the hill you walk up. You don't need to pay to see the outside of the castle. Its quite high to climb and with narrow steps or you can walk up the cliff, amazing veiws. Would recommendVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
If you are interested in ruins, then this is the place to go, but we found the entrance fee a bit too steep, with £6,25 per person. Unfortunately, we can not say much about the ruins itself. To go up to the castle, we used the little cable car. As the ride up and down was a little over£4 for one person, we had thought the price included the castle. Not such luck. The surroundings of the castle are nice with great views.
We went up to the castle in the west hill lift think thats the namethe views from the castle were amazing, the visitors centre is looking a bit the worse for wear but the audio about the battle was very educational well worth a visitVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Astonishing views from the hill and the shore beaches are quite nice too. Love this place, hope to come again!
Located just to the west of Ladies Parlour, the remains of Hastings Castle overlook the town below. Great views from the castle grounds over the town and towards St Leonards and Bexhill. There is not a great deal to see or do here. Spent approximately 45 minutes in total and that included watching the video, taking lots of photos, reading the info boards and going down into the 'dungeons'. Entry should be a bit cheaper in my opinion than what it is currently. Still had a good time here and having lived in Hastings for a few years, it was good to do something you see all the time but never get around to doing.
How excited we were to make it to Hastings castle! It is so full of historical information we loved it. Looking at the layout of the floor plan was good too. The view was outstanding and trying to imagine being back in those times what the original landscape must have looked like. Must admit although I’m pretty fit I did have to have a break on the way up the hill. Luckily for us we had FREE ENTRY!!! But only as the cash register was broken - the guy at the gate house couldn’t even take a donation. What a nice time we had.
Well.... Its very expensive for what it is. Literally some broken bits of castle which take about 15 minutes to walk around, with kids too. Then watch a video about the history of the castle. We brought the 3 attraction purchase thing, the castle being the first and I'm glad as we would have paid £35 just to look around the castle. Prices need to be knocked down, then more people would probably enter. For the time we spent around the castle, we enjoyed it and I took some nice pictures. But it was very short lived and there isn't much else to do. Even the 3 attraction day out pass is expensive for what it is. Best one out of the 3 is the sea life center but even thats a bit run down. Seems like all 3 places are clutching at straws, hence the 3 attraction purchase "deal".
A nice place to visit, a fair amount of castle to see with pictures showing what the areas originally looked like. There’s a small building that looks a bit like a community centre, there are no obvious signs outside but this is where you can watch a video to learn more about the castle. There’s not much interactivity etc. for children but it’s a lovely peaceful space to explore and stretch your legs a bit. I can also recommend the 3-in-1 attraction ticket if you want to visit a few places, as this includes the Bluereef Aquarium, Hastings Castle, and Smugglers Cove. Be sure to check opening times as these aren’t open all week.
