Defensive Driving Course / Advanced Driver Training £280.00

This course is designed for full licence holders wanting to improve their current driving skills, and is excellent preparation for Advanced Driving Tests. This course is usually done over 5 x 2-hour sessions and covers an assessment drive and defensive driving techniques in relation to:

• Motorways & Dual Carriageways
• Roundabouts
• Rural Driving
• Crossroads
• Traffic Lights
• Pedestrian Crossings
• Responding to Signs & Signals
• Emergency Braking
• Lane Choice
• Overtaking and Passing Vehicles
• Dealing With Cyclists, Pedestrians and all other road users
• Clearance from moving and stationary vehicles
• Avoiding Common Accidents
• Environmental Driving Techniques

Motorway Tuition £50

• Joining and leaving motorways via slip roads
• Lane changing and overtaking
• Making appropriate progress
• Defensive techniques
• Forward planning & observation
• Brake downs & safety procedures

Pass Plus £150.00

Pass plus is a training scheme designed by the DSA with the aim of providing drivers with vital experience and new skills. Pass Plus is about educating drivers on how to deal with situations you may not already have faced whilst learning to drive.

Pass Plus involves a minimum of 6 hours driving and concentrates on the following key areas:

• Driving on a busy road
• Driving in adverse weather conditions
• Driving on a quiet country road or lane
• Driving at night
• Driving on dual carriageways
• Driving on motorways

Completing the Pass Plus course is also a way to ensure that you start your driving life with a positive attitude towards driving, both looking at you taking responsibility for you own actions and also taking into consideration other road users and pedestrians.

Pass Plus DOES NOT require a test, it is an assessment that is carried by us, and as long as you drive to the required standard we will be happy to pass you.

Not only will completing the Pass Plus course will also entitle you to insurance discounts from one of the many insurance companies involved with the scheme alongside the Driving Standards Agency

The Pass Plus scheme can be taken at any time during your driving career but is specifically aimed at new drivers to be taken within a year of passing their test.

I just want to say I couldn't recommend Tony from Harwood driving school enough,  he fitted me in last minute as I had booked my extended driving test without an instructor,  I had 6 2hour lessons with him and passed first time. Tony was very friendly and put me at ease, he would message relevant link that would help me to pass, just before my test he messaged me to tell me what to remember was always very positive. I just want to say a massive thank you for all your help and support in getting me to pass my extended test. Darren .

Can't thank or recommend Duncan enough. I was super nervous but Duncan put me at ease right from the start and my confidence grew with every lesson. He's calm, patient and thorough and I wouldn't have had the confidence to pass first time if it wasn't for his teaching. Thank you so much again Duncan!

Would just like to express our sincere thanks to our Son's driving instructor Duncan who took Henry through his theory and test.  A rapport was built between instructor & pupil with the learning and whole experience being pleasurable for our Son.  Duncan always programmed lessons taking into consideration Henry's academic needs and his availability.  A first rate instructor whom my wife and I think very highly off. I without hesitation highly recommend Duncan to work colleagues, friends or family and thank him personally for teaching our Son how to drive to the required standard.

I passed my driving test today 12th July at nelson with the help of my intructor Tasha. She was really patient, a remarkable instructor and very knowledgeable. Tasha is a good communicator especially with me who cant speak english very well. She answered my question clearly. Surely wjll recommend her to my friends.  Thank you Tasha !

Jonny was an excellent instructor - patient, calm and informative. Would highly recommend to anyone considering taking lessons - even at almost 37 with Jonnys help I made it! Massive thanks!

Thank you Duncan Smith for teaching Ruby to drive and passing first time. She was very nervous when she started driving, you were  extremely calm and patient with her and now she’s full of confidence. I would highly recommend Duncan and we will definitely be using him when our youngest daughter turns 17.

Couldn’t thank Matthew enough, he’s extremely nice, he is calm and he sets an easy going environment to learn. He understands that everyone is different and adapts very well, he is a great people person which is importance when learning how to drive.   Highly highly recommend to anyone.

I cannot recommend Duncan from Harwood Driving school enough! Revisiting driving lessons as an adult learner was pretty nerve racking to say the least, but Duncan immediately put me at ease and worked at my pace. With his help, I was able to pass in just over 3 months of lessons! The excitement I felt when I passed was matched by Duncan - he truly wants to see his students succeed!
