Police have been called on a number of occasions due to multiple problems with the owners. They are rude and aggressive. They purposely block off rights of ways. Don’t waste your time paying for fishing as only 2 pegs and no fish. Place looks lovely initially, but the amount of rubbish, broken glass everywhere is a hazard to kids, horses and dogs. The grazing is a swamp and properly not rotated. The yard has seen better days with no upkeep and investment given. They will only work on a cash only basis. Cafe is never open.
Used to be able to walk through and see the horses but that route is closed. Now the children can not enjoy this place
Lovely little waters, some great fishing to be had and wildlife to observe
Absolutely disgusting attitude from which was either a member of staff or a regular horse rider there. Got lost looking for the fishing area and when I parked my car in a “Staff Car Park” near the stables so I could ask where I needed to go was greeted with a vile attitude and with no manners whatsoever. Will not be visiting there again
Had a great days fishing on the top pond. Lots of small stuff, then moved to the calm end and got into the carp. Really good fun on light course gear. Ran out of bait, a first for me. Thanks Hargate. Great day.
Place looks lovely aggressive land owner, followed google maps public footpath and got told to turn around even though the path was 2 minutes away. Nice looking empty cafe, wont be going back. Was looking at riding lessons, will go somewhere without rude locals.
Me and my partner have spent the last two days here and have caught some great fish, it has beautiful surroundings where you can just relax and chill. They also have some beautiful animals that you can visit which is great for the kids, monkeys, gentils, beautiful owls etc. Definitely recommend hargate, it is stunning and the people are lovely too!!
Staff here are very rude and not family friendly, BEWARE, if you follow a footpath from the fields you might end crossing the property of a lovely guy who lives in the house next to the stables, he gets very agitated and aggressive if you accidentally cross his land. Came here with my 2 children who wanted to see the animals on the farm, but we were told to leave because its private property. My daughter loves horses and wanted to start riding lessons, but after today's events she wont be coming here. Aren't you supposed to encourage and welcome new potential clients?
Fishing is terrible, hardley any fish in! Charge £7 joke . pegs 2 foot off the water. I think Stevie wonder built them. No idea don't bother wasted a day here ,not happy. And were not friendly at all . No wonder no one else there?
My daughter has riding lessons here. Great instructor and very friendly staff. Nice little cafe where you can get nice food to a reasonable price while you wait
