First time visit today with a group of ladies for afternoon lunch, pre-booked our table & pre-booked our food order's. We waited 35-40mins for our food, I had to go & ask if it was being prepared. On our arrival the table given was directly below a loud speaker, on several occasions we had to ask the bar staff to turn down the volume as we couldn't hear ourselves talking, we were only a party of 9. Once food arrived it was superb, large portions, very well presented, the Chicken roasts were half a chicken! I ordered a starter as a main Nachos Beef Brisket cabbage cheese all the trimmings, it was a massive portion, I was very surprised as were the other's, but the beef was cooked to perfection . Most ladies managed to finish their plates, I couldn't, the staff had wrapped left chicken to take home which was lovely. Overall the pub is very spacious, car park at the back available, food on the menu is good, large portions, good communication via telephone enquiries & pre- ordering. There's lot's of Sky Sports Screens around the venue too staff. Staff are young & 2 member's came across as slightly rude on 2 occasions on the shopfloor, which was a bad experience. It was quiet on our arrival & other parties continued to arrive after us, which is a positive, & shows it's popularity. I would recommend this pub & hopefully just small hiccups were today.
This was a brilliant evening to have a meal where our parents met for their first time, before we get married. They really enjoyed it, and I'm sorry I accidentally knocked a glass off one of the outside tables causing it to smash. But, a wonderful evening had by all!
I’ve just been to the most delightful homely pub.. me and a friend came in after receiving devastating news and the young guy on the bar jack I think he’s called was genuinely welcoming and polite. The darts team taught me a thing or two and the pool table is level and cues provided…. All in all… my new favourite spot in Clayton :
Let's start with the negative. 1. Don't expect the menu to resemble the website. If you can't update the menu then take the website down. 2. You will wait 45 mins for cheese and onion pie which is not made with cider glazed onions as described on website. Now the positive. 1. Food was delicious. Get rid of the website or keep it up to date tell customers pies are fresh so there's a wait and then it's bumped up to 5 stars.
The atmosphere is great, helpful and cheerful staff. I had the steak and ale pie which was amazing. Also they made for me a very small cheese and onion pie which is also very good. I'll get that the next time I'll visit, which I plan to do it very soon. The beer selection also was extensive and tasty. Edit: Went back again today and tried the cheese and onion pie, it was delicious. My wife had the fish and chips which were the best we had in this trip to UK.
Nice atmosphere, amazing food in good price. Staff helpful. All food fresh and delicious
A very nice pub friendley staff didn't have a meal but will go back to eat
The place advertise fresh food till 6pm on Sunday. Arrived here at 5pm but the kitchen was apparently closed, just to see 30 minutes later a waitress bringing out two Sunday roast for two other customers. At 17:30
Food was well below par. Don't get beer battered onion rings with the burger. Was told ir's a typo after they brought our food and didn't get any compensation for it. I told them that they should have told us that when we ordered. The bacon on the burger is not maple matured pancetta as stated, it is a thick rasher of back bacon with the fat left on not enough binding ingredient in the burger, and slighrly over seasoned. The fries came with salt on. We weren't asked of any allergies. I can't eat that amount of salt. No sign up reminding of customers to state their allergies or intolerances either. £14 for a burger n fries is ridiculous! Don't mind paying a high price ina restaurant and getting onion ringstooi, bŕut this was well over priced, nd it is only worthy of paying a few quid. Would be better going to Wetherspoons!
Great place. Very welcoming and the food here is amazing. Great quiz on a Wednesday night too
