Wick was out first North Coast 500 stop. We had no idea what to expect during the off-season in February. The town seemed almost deserted, it was so quiet. Turns out, everyone was at the Harbour Chip Shop. And with good reason. The food was AMAZING. Locals were parked outside, eating their fish and fries in their cars. We resorted to a bench in de harbour to eat our fish&chips. The fries were great and the fish was perfectly fried, crunchy and delicious. The staff was kind and efficient, food was ready in no time.
Quite possibly the most excellent fish supper I've ever had! Consistently good, sea-fresh, and fried to order. Friendly staff. Massive portions. The large fish supper is huge and a bargain at just £8. My Other Half and I visit every weekend and wish they stayed open a wee bit later but that's just a minor grumble. Well worth our drive to get here as they deserve every one of the 5 stars awarded, and more! Never a hit or miss. Superb!

I would rate this fish supper a 4.4 out of 5. My son and I opted for the large fish supper two fish, £8.00 at time of writing rather than the standard single fish £6.00. Beautiful, very tasty, thick flaky fish. Batter was good, but not my favourite. Crisp on the outside, but a bit thick and stodgy in places on the inside, as well as a bit greasy. Still very tasty though! Chips pretty crispy on outside, though some a bit limp. Generally a very good fish supper. Certainly plenty of lovely fish to enjoy. A couple of negatives though.... no paper napkins supplied to take care of salty/greasy fingers... no forks provided either. Would have been nice to at least have a napkin to wipe up after licking my fingers clean! LOL.
Not sure if lots of fake reviews have been made for this chippy because it certainly is not a five star fish shop. When you read numerous reviews stating the best freshest chips, excellent, great portions you expect exactly that You don't expect bog standard " could get it anywhere" standard of food a medium portion of chips served in a small card tray that looked like child's portion with over thick gravy. Mushy peas however were spot on Don't expect amazing food if you take the time out to drive here. You won't get it.

Good chip shop, parking outside, was a small queue when I visited but it meant freshly cooked food so didn’t mind waiting, good to see some young people behind the counter.

On our way to John o’groats we were researching where the nicest place to get fish & chips from was. Having found the cabin @ John ‘o’groats & the hilarious reviews a must read! we decided to wait for our journey home to stop into wick. The 5 star reviews for harbour chip shop are thoroughly deserved! A very busy chippy with lots of locals dropping in which is always a good sign. Fish was so fresh & tasted amazing, chips were delicious & the curry sauce was to die for! A must stop if you happen to be passing through.
I do not udestand good rating of this place. Worse fish&chips we ate in Scotland. 4 person and 4x stomach pain... Dry fish + big amount of chips more cooked then fried.
