Great park beside mausoleum for dogs.From bus 255 very steep way going back
The Mausoleum is absolutely stunning to look at! But it's never open sadly. I have just requested that the website change their opening hours to: Temporarily Closed. This has since been approved and no displays the above information on the website. The small abandoned house on the other hand is much more exciting. You can actually get to it, although you cannot enter it either, for obvious safety reasons.
Usually,when I visit Strathclyde park,I visit the Mausoleum,as it is situated in a nice area of the park.Ive walked around the Mausoleum,but never been inside it.I think you have to phone,to make arrangements for an inside visit.Sadly,the Mausoleum is now surrounded by a black fence to keep the drunks and vandals out!
Good piece of local history, albeit not accessible due to high fencing and locked gates. Impressive structure.

Hidden gem,visit this special place if you get the chance. Staff super helpful and very informative.
To see the inside you have to book a tour which is only available on 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month and book at least 2 days in advance.
A visit yesterday in my local patch and walk, took me down to Hamilton Mausoleum. It was an overcast amd rainy late afternoon. Walking in the small forest behind the Mausoleum and towards the derelict house in there too, is a favourite of mine. Except for the usual litter in there, the place has an atmosphere that makes return me there, again and again.
An impressive building set in a park close to Hamilton and Strathclyde Country park.
