The food here is outstanding. However this is where the the positives end. We were greeted extremely bruskly, not with a "hello" but with "name". Throughout the meal, you feel like you're an inconvenience. There is little atmosphere, and could really do with some background music. If you can deal with the poor service and lack of atmosphere, the food is worth it, but we won't be rushing back.
Quality cooked food in a lovely family run restaurant, set in their house. We love it here.
Great for value the staff cannot do enough for you especially george ,the chef is amazing, will certainly be making a return tripFood: 5/5
Excellent food which was beautifully cooked and served. Attentive service, two lovely beamed dining rooms in a pretty little building - all absolutely perfect. Looking forward to going back again and again.
Have eaten at Halliday’s on many occasions! Always welcomed with a smile at this family run business. The menu always has something that catches your eye, featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, Andy chef patron has an eye for detail and a wealth of experience in the kitchen. Not only does this restaurant have a great menu, but throughout lock down they started a great value & tasty takeaway service. Since lock down has eased we have experienced two fantastic outside dining events, board and barrel, paella afuera evening both events the food was fantastic and well priced and we felt safe in a covid secure environment. The paella in particular was to die for! Well done team Halliday’s looking forward to the next night soon!
Have always meant to go to Hallidays and don't know why we haven't been. Had the most wonderful meal there this evening. Sat outside first with our drinks and nibbles looking at the menu. We both had smoked salmon to start, my husband had calves liver for main and I had black bream. All dishes hot and very tasty. My husband had cheese and biscuits for dessert and I had apple tart which is freshly cooked, Finished with coffee and petits fours. We shall definitely return
Enjoyed a Valentines Hamper during lockdown 2021. Having not eaten out for more than six months it totally reminded us of how good professionally cooked food is. The hamper came with great instructions and was fun and quick to prepare. We ended up sharing the starters and leaving the puds for another day as there was so much food. Thank you so much.
Expensive but good food. Lovely thatched "cottage" building. The inside was looking tired and not very clean when we visited -the toilets were grimy. The staff welcome was friendly and helpful. There were two serving staff, one smiling, cheerful and bending over backwards to be helpful, the other miserable, abrupt, with an unfortunate manner appearing rather rude and unapproachable.
I had high hopes for this place with its idyllic thatched cottage chocolate box exterior , but walk inside and it's quite disappointing. It's exactly like the other reviewers have mentioned, the decor is really drab and uninspiring. It really is like sitting in someone's dully decorated front room. The ladies who served us were not particularly welcoming , we did feel a little like we were spoiling their day by turning up - more pesky customers ! Food was ok , I would have liked a better selection of vegetables with the roast beef dinner, and the beef was too well cooked but the gravy was nice ..... I dont normally eat dessert, but with the Sunday set menu you get 3 courses for £26 , which I thought was pretty reasonable, so I had an iced banana dessert which was delicious. Oh and the bread rolls were really nice too. All in all, if they could redecorate, make the walls a bit more interesting to look at , and maybe play some low key music it was oddly quiet in there and add a few more vegetables to the roast dinner, I would go back. As it is now, I wouldn't.
Lovely friendly accommodating service. The food was amazing! - really good value. Highly recommend a visit.
