Seeking God : Sharing Faith : Serving Halifax

"Halifax Minster is the mother church of Calderdale. It is the Anglican Parish Church of St John the Baptist and is a member of the Inclusive Church Network and its offering of a welcome to all is a reflection of its 900 year old Benedictine roots. The present building largely dates from the 1440s. The church is open daily for prayer and worship, for visitors to appreciate the Grade1 listed building and a wide variety of events are hosted in the church each month."

Beautiful and unique cathedral! I've not seen a similar style of built, with the ceiling being relatively low as compared to the tower. Would highly recommend visiting! Also, very helpful and talkative staff.
Great old traditional church, went for Easter Sunday and it was fantastic. Great service. Now the church itself is also a great building. Just to hear the bells ringing is amazing. Something you don't widely get around London. The Congregation is also very welcoming and friendly.
Lovely old building, many architectural features. Went to see the Overgate Choir with Hammond Silver band. Amazing atmosphere & Concert. Also the Christmas trees were spectacular
One of my favourite venues in Yorkshire. Yes York Minster is stunning , Ripon Cathedral too but I would encourage everyone to visit both Halifax Minster and Bradford Catherdral. Last night it was the Overgate Hospice Choir Christmas concert with the Hammond brass band in the Minster. A fabulous night in a fabulous venue.
It's a fascinating medieval church with lots of old monuments and gravestones as well as box pews, a Norman font and a historic organ.
Beautiful visit very kind and informative staff we had a coffee and they let well behaved dogs in on a lead so bonus excellent visit would recommend
Looks drab on the outside but the many beautiful stained glass windows are a must see.
We visit churches to see the stained glass and this 1 had some lovely examples. It is also the burial place of 'Anne Lister, aka Gentleman Jack' for those interested in her story
We went to the Christmas Tree exhibition on Friday and it was absolutely stunning. The building is such a beautiful place to visit and has such a history. The guys on duty were so nice and helpful. If you are in Halifax then check it out, close to the railway station and the Piece Hall, one not to miss.
Thank you Halifax Minster for a very moving and meaningful visit. A truly beautiful and inspiring building filled not only with history, but also with that feeling which some of us get from visiting a live worshipping community. Very friendly and helpful volunteers and some of the best facilities for mobility scooter users that we have encountered.
