Popped in today for a bike check-up, a wee bit of advice, and to pick up a couple of bike related bits n bobs. I work in retail myself, so for me a shop is a shop is a shop - what truly makes the difference is the service you get. Well today was my lucky day as I was served by a charming member of staff named Jen if I read her name badge correctly. Nothing I asked was too much trouble, every query I had was totally satisfied, and the whole time I was there I got service with a smile and that’s quite a feat when dealing with joe-public, believe me..! Honestly the best shopping experience I’ve had in a long, long time. Well done Halfords and thank you Jen..!
Excellent. This a great idea especially for women. Served by Ross today with his great knowledge, very polite and a great asset to Halfords. It would be fantastic if Halfords had a MOT available here in Clacton on sea. Will differently pass yhus service onto my friends and family.
Quality Products? Not this time! This is based on a product review, not the staff who are always great. Purchased a variety of ready made battery leads to help with the installation of a new battery on Ducato van. All went well until I fitted the earth strap. It turned out that the earth strap was causing an intermittent connection. Upon inspection I found neither end of the cable had been crimped and cables had just been pushed into connectors earth strap simply pulled away from the end fittings, with a minimum of effort. What made matters worse was the fact that the problem only became apparent when job was complete. Which meant an extra 30 minutes of work having to to remove and replace passenger seat again in order to gain access to battery to repair/crimp the earth strap. My main concern is that if the earth strap had become detached after install it could have caused a fire or explosion had it touched a live component. I never knew that the straps were DIY! Joking aside - Yesterday 30th of december I revisited Halfords Clacton to report this issue. I first went to the battery lead section and checked another earth strap. Low and behold both connectors on that lead became detached with the minimum of effort. I took that one to the till and explained the issue, I only hope now that all earth straps in this and other halfords stores will be removed from display and checked for safety. Watch this space! Don't usually write reviews but every time I visit the store, Jen proves herself to be a real credit to Halfords. Always goes above and beyond to help with any bicycle issues and queries regardless of whether it'd pay off or not and she always proves very knowledgeable.
Well what can I say. I went to the Clacton store and I knew what product I wanted but wasn't sure out of the big choice ones they had would be best so I asked a member of staff. The guy I spoke to was very very helpful and explained in detail the product choices on offer and what ones were better than some of the others I ended up buying one of the ones he recommended and I am very happy with it. Must also point out too. when I got to the till the guy on the till was very helpful as well and even saved me £10 by me signing up to the motoring club.no fee just an email account to receive offers to.so both guys are a credit to the Clacton store
A fold-up bicycle used as a regular work horse needed considerable modification work to fit it with wider, more stable tyres. Simon at Halfords in Clacton-on-Sea showed great skill and ingenuity making modifications to support the wider tyres. He never gave up as various problems arose, and came up with clever solutions. The bike is now much safer on rough surfaces, and rides better than when new! If you need any repairs or modifications carried out on your bicycle, I highly recommend Simon.
