Avoid this branch at all costs. We initially went in needing new coils and spark plugs. Halfords gave the car back to me telling me they had fixed this and it is in working order, and that was all. Drove for a few days and the car breaks down again. Being confused as we were told it was fixed, we had to get the car towed back to Halfords, but the road was closed and Halfords hadn’t updated their website to say they were closed. So towed to a different garage. The mechanic then lifted the bonnet to find the attached. Plastic cable ties keeping the coil pack connector in place. The mechanic said he has never seen such shoddy work in his time being a mechanic. We then made a complaint through online customer services. We were told that the manager of the branch will call us to discuss the problem. I spoke to a staff member who wasn’t the manager, and he said we were in the wrong for not reading the invoice and they haven’t done anything wrong. He was exceptionally rude and argumentative and wouldn’t accept that what was on the invoice wasn’t verbally said to me when picking the keys up. He didn’t apologise whatsoever. Then I went in person and spoke to the manager at Halfords Huddersfield branch - Matthew. He told us that it was written on our invoice that a temporary repair was carried out and it was my responsibility. Which is fair enough, however nothing was said verbally when my keys were handed back to me. Matthew then said that they use plastic ties all the time on other cars to keep the coil pack connector in place and our car is the first one to not be effective and break down… this in itself tells me that they didn’t tell us what they had done because they thought a temporary fix would be a permanent fix. Matthew then told us that we just simply need a connector piece fitting to keep the connector in place and this will solve it and Halfords don’t stock this piece. I then said that if I was told all of this information it would of saved me breaking down and paying for a tow truck etc. Matthew didn’t apologise but said they will pay for the connector clip that is needed if we go to another garage ourselves… we went to the auto electrician got the work done and took the receipt back to Halfords. To be rudely informed that they will not pay for this now as we made an official complaint with customer services and haven’t dropped it. Absolutely terrible customer service and I will never ever go back to Halfords again. They have caused me a lot stress and wasted time AND extra money to fix a problem they should of completed originally.
Richard I think that’s his name he worked on the bike section is super friendly and helpful. He helped my boyfriend find the things he needed for his bike and was very informative. You can tell he really enjoys his job!!
Ride and not bothered… dropped car at 8:30 for service, asked them to check tyre for puncture on tyre, they decide to ring me at 4:30pm telling me I can not have car back…nnWhen questioned why, they pass the book, blaming lease company… leave company didn’t tell them have it from 8-30 till 4 without starting the work.nnNot the first bad experience I have had with this very unprofessional establishment… Rhys thinks if he talks politely that he is professional… avoid
The customer service provided by Emma at the Huddersfield store in Huddersfield on 14/08/24 was exceptional. She took the time to understand the problem with my roof bars and then found a brilliant solution that resolved this for me. Emma is an excellent ambassador for Halfords and her 'can do' attitude is highly commendable. Thank you again.
Absolutely appalling! Paid for a new battery to be fitted and after driving 200 miles home found the bonnet prop was crushed and badly bent AND not only that the paint was scratched badly on the inner wing etc. Unbelievably bad service for what’s a simple job.nIt’s going to require a completely new mechanism to be fixed if we can find one.
