Had MOT and service done here last year and thought explanations and service was good. They always go through the costs with you in detail before you agree to the work. But this year when they called it was very rushed and not so well explained - also don't let them do your tyres they really do charge over the odds for them, the guy explained to me they don't really sell many tyres so they can't get good deals on them like other places that buy in bulk. But the prices and the service itself were good, so I guess if you know your cars a bit better it might be a slightly better experience as you don't need so much to be explained.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I dealt with the Guildford centre and the manager Mark. Overpriced, extra work added to my invoice when it wasn't done (to the tune of over £200), rude staff who had no customer service skills. Mark blamed his supplier and then head office for the problems I'd experienced and called me a liar. They had my car for just over 5 days and in that time they didnt contact me once. I had to call several times. When I went in to pick up my car, Mark said he 'was sorry I felt that way.' When I asked him that surely he should be sorry that I had been let down rather than belittling my feelings he shrugged. I have never had such a bad experience at a garage.

I have been using this centre for years and they have been always very good in terms of customer service for very reasonable prices. Work is always done on time and well. I am girl and don't know too much about mechanics and find them willing to explain as far as I care to ask them. However, I do need to prompt them on whether or what type of service is needed and what type... otherwise they only do the MOT.

This is my second visit to a Halfords Autocentre for MOT. Last year, I visited Milton Keynes which trumped the Guildford branch hands down in the areas of: Customer service; MK was friendlier with greetings and smiles. These were missing in the Guildford branch. Facilities; Toilet, clean waiting area and parking was a boon for the MK centre. Guildford was the stuff of nightmares in these core areas. Technical know-how; my contact with MK left me in the knowledge that these fine fellows would look after my well-kept car. Guildford, on the other hand, used a technician who couldn't even take my tail light out declaring " the fuse box has to be removed in order to gain access to the bulbs ". This was after waiting for 30 minutes for someone to replace a stop light. I pointed out how to removed the fixing and was swiftly on my way. All in all, I'd be reluctant to leave my car here again and wonder how there could be such a vast gulf between two sites operating under the same corporate banner.
