This campsite is brilliant. What makes it so good is the absolutely amazing and friendly family that run it. We were greeted by the most cheery fellow upon arriving and then we were free to pitch anywhere we liked. The fields were well maintained with no mud or difficult patches. We hired a fire pit and wood which was a nice touch. Although having the option to purchase kindling with the fire pit would be helpful. The toilets were mostly clean, one was blocked the weekend we were there which was unusable. The main shower and toilet block near the shop was definitely a bit gross but it didn’t bother us too much. Very very basic shop but good for simple items. I would visit again! Very good.
Fairly basic campsite with three camping fields. All three fields share a single toilet/shower block which for some, depending on their pitch location is a bit of a trek. Site is based on a working dairy farm so expect the raw smell of the countryside. .. this said the pitches are mostly level and well presented. We had a standard tent pitch which was perfectly fine. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. There is a small shop with basic items on sale including fire pits, logs etc. The Gents showers were a bit hit and miss depending on which one shower cubicle you chose. One was nice and powerful but with only warm water, others were hot but lacking pressure. To be fair, they were perfectly adequate and clean. The site is really in the middle of nowhere with no facilities outside of the site within easy walking distance this includes any pubs... The site was nice and peaceful after 11pm. Would certainly visit again.
Lovely, Laid back camping. There is plenty of space. Decent showers and toilet facilities. A little shop with a few bits and bobs you might need. A little takeaway food caravan if you can't be bothered to cook. Nice walks in most directions. All in all, a nice place.Service: 5/5
This campsite was amazing!! The owners could not do enough to help me celebrate my sixtieth birthday party with all my friends. The site and toilets were very clean and well managed. We had electric hookup for our caravan. The site was very busy bank holiday but it had a great vibe and all the campers seemed to be having a lovely time. We will definitely go back to this site. Top marks from us. Nearby activities: Great place for walks straight from the campsite.
Beautiful site in stunning location. Basic but clean toilet block. Shower area could do with shower curtains to minimise the water on the floor and maybe a small stool/more hooks to put your things on. Lady on reception very friendly and directed us how to walk along the valley by the river to the local pub/hotel for food.
Spent 4 nights here recently with friends. It's a relaxed campsite with lots of space. We had 2 small tents, a gazebo and a van 4 of us and it was about £40 per night between us. There are great views from some of the fields. There is a shop where you can rent a firepit for £5 for your stay and buy wood for £6 a bag. The owners seem lovely and I saw Amy a couple of times cleaning the showers or toilet blocks late at night. There are two toilet blocks, one in the middle of the fields and one at the front of the site with the showers. The toilet block on the field was often blocked, especially in the evening. There is one shower block that is right at the front of the site about a 5 minute walk from our tent. The showers are fine but check that they are hot before you get in , wear flip flops or shower sandals and be careful because they can be really slippy. There are bins at the front of the site but I didn't see anywhere that you could recycle so we took our bottles/ cans home with it. It would be great if stuff could be recycled! Nearby activities: The closest town is Bakewell 10 minute drive and I would recommend hiring a bike to do the Monsal trail from Hassop Station
Firstly the owners upon arrival were very welcoming and friendly so couldn’t fault them. This campsite is a money making machine personally as the facilities aren’t ample for the amount of people that were there, it was like a festival with people queing for toilets and showers etc. The existing facilities were very unclean and I’m not sure if there was a cleaning schedule but work is needed here especially in the shower blocks as they were filthy and in need of upgrading. We were really disappointed overall and people were packed in like sardines so we decided to leave a day early. There are nice walks on the doorstep but for me if the owners upgrade the necessary facilities this will of course make a difference. We wouldn’t return in its current state.
Fitted us in at the last minute having been turned away from the one up the lane. So glad they turned us away. This site has lovely views from the last field, and you could have heard a grasshopper sneeze in the night it was so quiet, despite being very busy. Good dark skies for stargazing. We're self contained, so didn't check out the facilities sorry.
Lovely place to camp, lots of space and well kept facilities. Staff were lovely, helpful too! The only let down was some fat end with two teeth getting hostile because we parked just within 6ft of his campervan. we’re new to camping, didn’t know the rules, but he came out with an attitude. Fingers crossed diabetes takes him soon. We found a better patch of grass in the end. Would recommend this campsite. Walkability: Very close to some good trails
If a value for money, basic campsite with amazing views and a good location is what you're looking for then you wont go far wrong with Haddon Grove Farm. We enjoyed it that much last summer we now have a caravan on there. The owners are first class and very friendly. Once you camp here you wont be going anywhere else in the Derbyshire Dales.
