Discovered this interesting place on Google Maps accidentally. Very informative and after all this is a place with some real history and stories. Can quickly spend an hour there, or even more if going through all the videos showing alongside the exhibits. All tickets are valid for unlimited entry for a full year from date of purchase, so probably will go again later.
LOVED IT!! There is so much to see and take in here! The theming of the cafe as you enter is fab, and the story told through the rooms is both poignant and interesting. We spent a good two hours taking it all in, but certainly could've spent longer! The staff were super friendly, and the little gift shop is reasonably priced. I almost wish we could've spent a whole day here!
Really great place for kids and adults. It has been curated very well. Lots of content and items, far more than I was expecting. Prepare yourself to spend 1.5hrs to go through all the rooms. The cold war years is told really cleverly through out the different rooms of the bunker. It has also got a little shop with some very quirky souvenirs.
Very good place to visit for a few hours and local. Pity some parts were not accessible, some due to covid also but really enjoyed our visit. The staff member was very welcoming and the cat is an added bonus, very friendly.
This place is a 'must see', especially for those of us who lived through the whole 'Protect and Survive' era. It's absolutely crammed with artefacts relating to the Cold War, and includes such things as the original telephone that was reserved for calling HM the Queen in the event of a nuclear attack to obtain consent to enact emergency powers. They're displaying the film 'The War Game', which was banned by the BBC. It made 'Threads' look like children's television. I felt physically sick after watching it and it's hard to believe that anybody ever conceived of creating these weapons of horror. I felt genuinely chilled by my experience of visiting here, but at the same time I definitely want to return. It's a truly important place and it's vital we never lose sight of the devastation that nuclear weapons cause.
I ended up going here, by accident, as where I intend to go was cancelled due to a prior engagement coming to light, and on the way back, I found this purely by chance, but what a great time we had. It was a fascinating place to visit, and after I mentioned it to a few family members, a day out there very soon is assured. I have kept this short because I am pretty sure I reviewed it after I went there.
We found it very interesting, at the same time a little scary. We took our dog with us because it is dog friendly site, when we go again we will go without the dog because there is too much to take in. We'll worth a visit if this is what you are interested in. There is a little I spy for children to do during their trip around the bunker.
Very nice place many attractions huge museum but due to covid you can't touch things but the place is amazing packed with items from original things from the bunker a little gift shop /cafe at the beginning of the museum.
Great museum. Very interesting. Loads to see. Lovely people who work there. Definitely recommend a visit
