Today my wife and 9 month-old visited The Gun for a Valentine's Lunch. We booked in advance and were seated by the pizza oven. This was great for our son as he enjoyed watching the chef work. The starter was delicious breads, oils and hummus. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all. My wife had the banana blossom fish and chips for her main. She said the batter was lovely and crispy. I had the quinoa burger. The chips were perfect and the burger was full of flavour and filling. Staff were attentive and met all our needs. The only suggestion I could make was to have a changing mat in the gents' toilets as my wife had to do all of the nappy changes. After visiting The Lazy Fox, The Vineyard and now The Gun, it is clear Elite Pubs are doing great things!
Hello, I went to the gun for dinner with my sister while camping last weekend. Nice environment however slightly pricey. Staff where great. I ordered the 21 day 8 oz steak and asked for it medium but it came out very close to well done seemed a bit small and was fairly chewy. Everything else was fine. My sister ordered a vegan meal and her plate looked amazing. I did not snap a picture of this only my own meal. Service was good food came out in good time.
Lovely country pub, with lots of character and friendly staff. Lovely garden room for the colder, wetter days and a garden with views for those warmer, sunnier days. Good menu including vegetarian options and an in-house pizza oven. Lots of parking, including an electric vehicle charging point. Part of the "Elite" pubs.
10 out of 10. First time experience was of friendly and helpful staff, a lovely building and some amazing food. I'm not going to lie, I was going to take a photo of my king prawn linguine but thought, I'll just have one quick taster first....all you would of got was a photo of an empty bowl! I will be back again, so I will try to keep a stronger resolve for a photo next time.... For a pub, it's an amazing place. Book a table and Enjoy.
The Gun Inn has a huge car park and gardens with tables and seats. Quick friendly service. Came here for first time for a family meal. The Aberdeen Angus beef burger and Chips was huge and scrumptious. Prices seem very reasonable and competitive. Lots of tables and space inside with tables nicely distanced for comfort. Children’s play area in the garden with lovely country views. Very quiet. 20 minutes only quick service, piping hot food, generous portions and delicious. Will definitely be coming again. Did not experience any of the problems that recent reviews on here had. I wish there were SIX stars avaliable
We took an elderly relative for Sunday lunch after a relatively long hospital stay. The staff were fantastic finding cushions to make her comfortable. The food was really tasty and well-represented. Will definitely be back!
Service was slow. The food was good. I really think that a 12.5 per cent service charge is too much. Our service charge was £24 for a table of 4. £45 of our bill was drinks so to include that in the 12.5 per cent service charge is extortionate. If you are going to charge that you need to make sure that the service is top notch. Sadly it wasn't. I had to tell the waitress we were ready to order our food. We had to wait half an hour between starters and mains. The waitress leant across one of us continuously when serving the person next to him instead of walking round. I asked her to take the service charge off as we wanted to leave a smaller tip separately to which she replied 'I can do'!! I then had to remind her we were waiting to pay the bill! This pub is definitely not as good as it used to be. We were the only ones left in there at 10.45pm on a Saturday night!

Disappointing lunch. First less than friendly staff when we asked to be seated at a different, less noisy table. Then served by pleasant young man who was helpful and efficient. Starter of shared prawns was good. Main course of chicken kebab dry, warm chips, warm bread. My partner ordered scallops which were small and accompanied by a dry pea accompaniment and a salad which was not even dressed! It is such a shame as the first time we ate here it was great. Perhaps it was today's chef? Made to feel uncomfortable by the staff member who seated us initially. Won't be back.......
Always fantastic evening here - food extremely good and buzzing atmosphere. No matter how busy, the service is always excellent. Enjoyed the game pie last night - so tasty and hubby had the burger, as always and thoroughly enjoyed it! Drinks aren't extortionate and the rose was beautifully chilled and a delight. Thanks to everyone and we'll definitely be back soon . Parking: Good size carpark. Can get busy though with overspill on the road.
