Visited Gulliver's Kingdom with an 8 year old who is scared of rides. I thought this would be a good place to try out gentle or slower rides and there would be other things to do if the rides were too much. We had the best day! He only went on a few of the smaller and slower rides but there was plenty of other things to do. The play areas are great and well placed - I would think if you have multiple children and an age range meaning some will be on rides and some not, then you could easily keep them all entertained in each area. My 8 year old loved the mining experience and the "gems" he found. Tickets are reasonable we paid £26 each during the summer holidays. Food inside the park is a little expensive but not excessive £18 ish for a hot lunch with a drink for both of us. Be aware that this park is on a fairly steep hill. The terrain could be a challenge for anybody who struggles with mobility - lots of uphill walking! Overall a great day out and we will be back.
Great theme park for younger children. Be aware of the variety of height restrictions, there were a few unhappy children. These are shown on the website and map, however some rides don't allow children over a specific height to ride with an adult. This posed some issues for us as due to SEN children did not want to ride alone on some rides! Overall a good day out, and would definitely visit again.
Not alot of rides especially for the older kids. Lines were very long for the 2 main rides, tiny rollercoaster and water slides. Even in weekdays on a cloudy day. The chair lift views were amazing though. The zip line was fun. Parking was full and had to park in the public car park and pay by phone only for £5 for 2 hours.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
We'd driven by here many times and had no idea how big and how good this place was! We went with two 11 year old boys and an 8 year old girl and everybody had a fantastic time. We bought the tickets online in advanced and spent the whole day there having fun. We actually arrived before the site opened at 10:15 and left at closing time at 17:00! We managed to visit all the attractions which were open, with particular highlights being the Log Flume, the cable-car and Riggers Revenge. All the attractions were worth a visit but some are getting a little old now and need a bit of an update. Foodwise we shared some pizzas in the Safari Kingdom which we all enjoyed and were fair priced. Many families bought their own packed lunch/picnics however. We were two families and all the adults in the group noted how it was the least stressful and most relaxing funpark we'd been to. The setting on the hill and nestled amongst the trees is perfect and ensures that the children are tired at the end of the day. If you're in the area and have young children, then this is a must!
We had such a brilliant day here- it was a Sunday and the queues were never too long. Ideal with a little one! The rides don’t really cater for single families with more than one little one, I only had one child with me so it was perfect for us. The parks and play areas are great! We spent 5 hrs there but could have easily stayed longer. Overall, a fabulous day in a beautiful setting. My daughter is 4 It is very hilly, excellent for fitness haha! Also the rides are quite dated but kids don’t notice that unless you go pointing it out all the time like some family kept doing. *eye roll* Kids pass had tickets for £18 each and I bought them on the day :
An enjoyable day out with friendly staff. Went during the holidays, so was busy and had to wait an average of 20-30mins for some of the popular rides and even at crêpe food place! There were some rides where the queue was too big, so we just didn't bother. I think if I had paid the full price and travelled a far distance to this place, then I think I would be writing a different review. It is definitely worth booking way in advance, if you can. Many people have given it a poor review based on the park looking a little tired and in some areas, I would agree but overall I think it was well maintained. However, no one has mentioned the awful music they blare out! My ears were bleeding! Please stop the music! It is so unnecessary, even my 9 year old commented on how bad it was! We went on the log flume and like other reviews, there was a little whiff in the area and the water did look rather unpleasant but the things you do for your kids! The photo picture you can purchase at the end was rather disappointing. They wanted £7.95 and the photo but was very dark, which was a shame and not worth the money! The park is built on the side of a hill lovely setting, so wear sensible footwear, your calf muscles will certainly get a good workout! On one of the steeper hills, they have put in a walking escalator like they have at the airport, which I thought was cleaver. Lots of little play parks and soft play areas for the kids. My son had a pepperoni pizza £13, it was actually not too bad. Crêpe was £4 and chewy! Ice cream around £3. So a little pricey but what you expect in a place like this. I would recommend it but if you come during the holidays, then expect to queue at most of the rides.
We had our first visit to Gullivers Kingdom at Matlock Bath with a Wowcher offer of 2 days park tickets and overnights stay for 4 of us excluding food. The accommodation was lovely, we had a pirates room and the girls loved it. The food was good, not amazing but not bad either and prices average for a park. The park is very hilly so wear good footwear and avoid open toe shoes or slip ons if you want to go on rides. A lot of the park is dated but doesn't affect your family fun at all, we quite enjoyef some of the older attractions. We managed to get pictures with 3 of the mascots and all in all had a great time. Will definitely go again.
Did a day trip with @my-tours highly recommended btw. I've put together a video of our day out. First n foremost is that this place is all on a hill side and has steep inclines just getting into the parking with tight corners on 3 levels and the rest of the park is the same so be prepared for alot of walking, steps and a good leg workout! The park itself is all lovely open green space nice and clean. All the staff members on the rides are super friendly with good banter with everyone which was great. If parked on the bottom there is a cable cart too the top and u can work your way down unlike us in the middle and went up n down about twice getting lost here n there as the map is flat and the park is not lol Most attractions are suitable for younger children or with an adult but even teenagers are just big kids and we had a super fun day out. Lots or food choices dotted about the park too fresh made pizzas, fish n chips which for a meal with side and drink was just under £10 so a great deal and most food prices was pretty good over all. There's lots to do for younger kids with climbing frames and slides etc all over the park on all levels, walking with dinosaurs and much more. Even with a busy park the queues went quickly and wasn't too long. Think around 30 odd was longest for a swinging zipline type ride which was so fun. Competitive price for a fun day out for everyone.
It's a little on the expensive side and a couple of the rides weren't working but our grand daughter loved it. The place does need a bit of tlc as its starting to look tired. It's definitely not a place for those with mobility issues or have a fear of hights. We did have a great day out thoughVisited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYes
Gave 3 stars as there were many positive. All staff were helpful and seamed happy. All the rides were working and the place seamed clean enough. I didn’t appreciate being charged for a map even if it was only £1. You can tell that nothings been spent on it for a long time however my actual hatred of it was the site itself. Who thought it was a good idea to build theme park in a mountain. It just filled me with dread every time we went anywhere due to the steep paths. I could not let go of my 2 year old for a second incase she ran off and went down a hill. No exaggeration I was walking on my tip toes and the pushchair was above my head it was so steep. Car park was a nightmare getting in as there was a coach trying to leave. A member of staff had to help guide while parking sensors where going off on both sides as there was just not enough space. There’s nowhere near enough tables or seats although it’s probable there’s nowhere flat to put them. To give them full credit they’ve done as much as they can with the site but would I go back. Never again. There’s too many other places to go that don’t have the issues this place does
