I have had bad experiences with some of the GP’s at the practice to the point of being nervous to speak to them about any health problems, but I had to today. I had a lovely Dr called Dr Moxley who rang me and really made me feel at ease and was so professional and seemed genuinely concerned. Has really restored my faith in the practice. They have a new triage system where you have to request a call with a GP on their online system. Luckily I was called quite quickly about my problem. Also can’t fault the nurses there, they are normally short staffed but so lovely every time I go.
Relatively new to this practice but the booking system and triage is by far the most efficient I've had at any GP. After 111 recommended I see a GP, they contacted the practice along with my own online request and I had an appointment an hour later. All staff I have encountered are friendly and informative.
The new triage system is really bad for booking appointments. For example I had to submit a request for an appointment that I felt was quite urgent but got a message saying it could be 2 working days until I got a reply so I ended up going to the minor injuries gp which turned out to be the correct choice. In the meantime whilst at the hospital I did then get offered an appointment for late that day to be fair which I then cancelled, but it should have been sooner. I think not being able to speak to a human makes it difficult to convey the level of seriousness for the condition, which could lead to overwhelm for walk-ins and the hospital, plus conditions like mine which had it been left untreated could have had serious complications. This morning I've tried to book an appointment to follow up, but it seems the system is either down or too full for me to add a request to the pile. Please try and smooth the kinks out in this new system as it really is a lovely practice otherwise! -- Quick update on my review, I wanted to book a non urgent appointment today - the only ones available with the drs I'd prefer to see are over a month away. I used to really recommend this drs but the new system has ruined a really good practice unfortunately - I would look elsewhere for a new surgery.
I am currently being seen for a back injury. I have been contacted either by phone or face to face when required. I find the doctors very helpful and supportive. Especially Dr Sara Hegazi and Miss Laura Self. The receptionists are equally as good, particularly 2 ladies one called Susan and the other whose name I unfortunately don’t know. She will know who I mean
Been here all my life. Used to be a good GP. Now the receptionists think they are specialists in everything and anything. Get asked if it's all in my head when I'm asking to speak to someone about my mental health. Get asked if it's really that bad when I ring up about frequent headaches and severe pain been to hospital about these issues in the past as "I have pains frequently and deal with it". Get told frequently to go to a walk-in centre or A&E. Told by a male doctor he "doesn't really deal with women's issues, I was just the on call doctor today" and that I should rebook my appointment with a female doctor 5 week wait for this appt and another for the next.
I have been very impressed with the care myself and my family have received at this surgery. Last week I sent an e consult about a concern I had with my daughter. We received a phonecall the following morning and were booked in for a GP appointment the same day. Dr Bell was lovely - took her time to listen and was so kind. We then had blood tests just a few days later with a lovely practice nurse who went out of her way to ensure my daughter was comfortable and reassured. Thank you
I can’t recommend the Grove Medical Group highly enough. My family have been with the practice for over ten years and the care we have received has been amazing. We have never failed to get appointments when needed and all the staff have been helpful and kind. The reception staff are brilliant. They manage to answer the phones quickly and could not be more helpful. We are happy to see any of the GPs and nurses as we have had nothing but great experiences with everyone. The systems they have in place work! Their follow up is always very reassuring. A huge thank you to all at the Grove. Just brilliant.
Been at this doctors for about 18 years since I was very young would never want to leave they are absolutely brilliant, there is no doctor that I would have an issue seeing all very professional and helpful, one Doctor even went out of his way to see my young daughter when he was due on his dinner break which was really appreciated - all GPs are amazing but to name a few Dr Clements, Dr Hannon, Dr Taylor and Dr Hanafy are particularly good. Reception staff are absolutely lovely especially the two lads always extremely helpful and polite. They are really good with seeing young children and babies. My Nana and Grandad also feel they are a great GP practice and wouldn’t want to go elsewhere.
Been a patient here since 2005 with my wife. Well run, good staff and doctors.
I can’t believe how bad this practice has got. I tried to get my son a same day appointment. I was on the phone at 8am exactly. Only to be told there were no appointments, at all. Then asked if next day would be ok, only to be told no appointments at all and I’d have to take him to the walk in at Cowgate or Byker. I also sent an insurance form in for my shoulder to get a referral to a private surgeon. It would take ten minutes to complete. I was told it would up to a month. Over a month and I still don’t have the form and can’t sleep properly on it. Yet no dialogue or anything from them. Really bad.
