A lovely Sunday roast. The place was heaving at 1300 but was quieter when we sat to eat at 1500. The roast was great value and delicious, only the Yorkshires were overbooked. Very good waiter, Lucian. £4 for a lime cordial seemed excessive. Would recommend overall

One of my favourite places! It’s a very cute and cozy pub, has place for parking next to it, has very friendly and attentive waiters, and finally the food is really lovely I think they have the best fish and chips in Reading so farFood: 5/5
We went here for Sunday lunch. My rib of beef was good and nice and hot. My wife's roast beef was thin and had very little actual meat to it. The veg was lukewarm, the roast potatoes were undercooked on the outside and barely warm in the middle. The food arrived so quickly after we ordered that I suspect everything except the rib had been plated up for a while and sat around in the kitchen getting cold. The staff were friendly and attentive but were let down by the quality of food provided by the kitchen.
This is such a gem of a pub - great wine selection, fab pub food Sunday roast is great value and extra pigs in blankets on the sides menu!, plus a lovely atmosphere. Open fire is on in the winter making it super cosy, and the outside space is good when the sun finally makes an appearance - always lots of tables and split smoking/non smoking spots. All good so far, yet it’s the staff who are the icing on the cake. So friendly and welcoming, especially Lucian, who greeted us with a big smile and for whom nothing was too much trouble. Great suggestions on the wine too, he’s an absolute credit to the Chef & Brewer brand - thanks team!

Excellent menu. Open most of the day. Great cup of tea too. Just a few minutes from the lovely walk along the Thames. Plenty of parking. Spacious bar and equally spacious eating areas. Nice part of Reading. Close to some interesting shops. Brunch from 9:30. Dinner late into the evening. Some private dining areas you can reserve. We didn't book but luckily got a table early evening. Would recommend you book to be certain. Well worth a try. Great location. Great food. Great atmosphere. Good beer too! Steak & Ale puff pastry pie. Vegetarian options: Clearly marked vegetarian choices. Parking: Just enter your registration no. at the bar terminal. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to navigate.
Another lovely Sunday Lunch at the Griffin - as always, the place was very busy but we were served quickly and efficiently. A special mention to our Superstar waitress, Seyna who was rushed off her feet, but still took time to make sure all her covers were happy and had what they needed. She did not stop smiling and was very polite. The food was very good and the service was great. Cannot fault this place - the Manager and his team do a great job.
