Green's Mill and Science Centre

About

This working windmill is the only inner city windmill in the UK, producing award winning spelt and wheat flour. Paired with the George Green Museum and Science Centre the site provides a fun and free day out for the whole family.

Story

Built in 1807 by a Nottingham baker, this windmill was inherited by his son George, who would later become a famous mathematician.

After a period of neglect the mill was restored and reopened in 1985, with milling starting again in 1986. Today the site has become a vibrant area of entertainment and discovery.

Buy award winning organic flour from the volunteers in the shop and find out about the workings of the mill from the miller. Learn about Green's Theorem and try to solve the puzzles in the Science Centre. Follow one of the trails or join in an activity. There's something for all the family!

If you interested in science about gravity and how windmill works then this place is for you. It a education place. It is good for bringing your kids to learn about science. Car park is free for 2 hours long. The entrance is also free. I recommend to visit.
These are from our walk the other night use to love spending time here as a kid.
This is a very nice place to visit, you can spend an hour here, next to it there is a nice park that children can play. Staff are very nice and friendly
No parking which wasn't obvious but my boy loved this place, had lots of fun in the science part, perhaps a simple model that can be understood by small children of how a windmill works and the process of field to bread or flour would be good but he had a lot of fun and there's a great park just down the hill
Spent many a happy summer evening sitting by the windmill with friends and many happy weekend here with my daughter in the science centre
Lovely place with fantastic local flour.
