Excellent fish and chips! Couldn't have been better, fish really well cooked, chips too....very, very good! Staff really pleasant! The place is nicely decorated and inviting! We sat at a table by a window with some nice views! I highly recommend it! I'll definitely go back tomorrow for another pint of IPA!
Wonderful little pub with very friendly staff and great food. We visited one afternoon for a few drinks and ended up making reservations for Sunday Dinner, which we could not recommend more. The beef was flavorful and tender. The potatoes were incredibly crispy despite sitting in the gravy and yet still very soft on the inside. I still dream about that Yorkshire pudding. It may be seasonal, but their Eton mess is to die for as well. They also allow dogs inside which was an amazing surprise.
Singularly the worst vegetarian offering for food ever made! My friend is fortunately a stoic when it comes to such things but the money charged for pasta with peas and carrots was beyond a joke. Nice wine. Nice staff. Bit lacking atmosphere.
A simply styled pub. Very friendly and welcoming staff. But the food was the star of the show! Very delicious and of high quality, this is reflected in the prices.
We were staying at the Crown just up the road but we had our dogs with us and the Crown does not allow dogs in the restaurant, we were told to give The Great Western Arms a try which was a short walk away. We had a very warm welcome and the barman gave our dogs some treats and made a fuss of them. The pub is very clean and very well presented, we had an excellent meal and they catered for vegetarians very well. We stayed for several hours just enjoying the local company and excellent beer etc. Dog friendly, excellent not over priced food, nice beer and very friendly locals who along with the bar man made us feel very welcome. Very highly recommended and appreciated.
The Barman was friendly and inviting. From here the “Arms” is just a name. Absolutely no atmosphere, cold and soulless. Recently renovated to cater for chick posh numpties, with grey and chrome fittings and what appears to be used pallets for wall panels. Not a genuine pub one expects from country England or the Cotswolds. Only burgers and spring rolls on the menu. I can get this at any corner shop anywhere in the world. Not an experience to be recommended. Stay away if after a British country experience. Only snobs need apply.
A lovely village pub, great welcoming atmosphere. Staff are brilliant, well kept beers and very tasty well presented food.
Very good local pub. We were not super hungry and wanted to leave room for dessert, so we shared the pan fried fillet of hake. Excellent dish! I'm America, our expectation of food at a pub is very low. This was the quality of a high end kitchen. Also, we had to get the sticky toffee pudding. Worth every calorie!
Great little pub! Good selection of Hook Norton beers on draft and we enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch.
Wonderful quintessentially British pub in the lovely village of Blockley, friendly staff. Really enjoyed being there.
