Great Torrington School is a mixed secondary school located in Great Torrington in the English county of Devon.Previously a foundation school administered by Devon County Council, Great Torrington School was converted to academy status on 1 August 2011. However the school continues to coordinate with Devon County Council for admissions. Pupils are normally admitted from Beaford Primary School, Buckland Brewer Primary School, Dolton CE Primary School, Great Torrington Junior School, Horwood & Newton Tracey Primary School, Langtree Community School, Monkleigh Primary School, Shebbear Community School, The Clinton CE Primary School and West & East Putford School.

This school has left me and many others traumatised, the mental health system put in place is not efficient enough. Poor and low quality care to people identifying as the LGBTQ+ They are given dirty looks by teachers, specifically PE teachers. This school is very close minded. The system they have in place is outdated and very poor. Do not send your children here. This school could have better potential but it’s permanently traumatised me and other students. They do nothing about bullying either, It’s disgusting. They preach about mental health but when it comes to someone struggling and having a breakdown in the corridor or toilets, you’re threatened with “MR1” which is an after school detention. This place is riddled with homophobia, transphobia, racism you name it. This place does not live up to its title and I rate this school inadequate
A brilliant all round comprehensive secondary school. It's been more than a few years since i went there but it was highly rated then. These days the school is in the top 5% for academic progress. They just need to prioritise local children from the town before others with regards to obtaining a place here. Recommended.
i sent my children here when living in torrington. my children loved the school,teachers,work and canteen. they want to come back but we cannot find rentals in the area which is a shame,reccommend to anyone
Sad to see a prospectus which, despite its efforts to single itself out as especially caring and focused, has become as bland and generic as so many others. What is the point?!
